Set up AC machine
NoteTouch time only, Connect to power, Turn power switch on

Open LH front door
-
Lower LH front window
-
Connect laptop to vehicle with a tethered Ethernet connection via Toolbox 3
Note1x connector, 2x clips, Newer models will access connector below MCU with cubby removed, Older models will access port at LH side of IP with end cap removed. Open Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to vehicle, Select connection status icon at top right corner and select Connect Locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected), Local connection will enable service mode plus on display
- Run ODIN routine

Select "Start Thermal Fluid Fill/Drain", Click Run and allow routine to complete
NoteSelect ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete, For AC related repairs verify all EXV's are in proper position, For all coolant related repairs verify vehicle is in Series, Thermal Fluid Fill/Drain routine has a 5 hour timeout, Routine will continuously run and not end
- Run ODIN routine

Open hood
NoteVia center display > Controls > Front Trunk

Remove underhood aprons
Note4x aprons, LH and RH aprons have 1x clip each

Remove dust caps from vehicle’s high-side and low-side service ports
Note2x threaded caps

Connect AC hoses to vehicle
-
Perform refrigerant system recovery
NoteNote or print the amount of refrigerant and oil recovered, If drained oil level increased more than 1.01 oz (30 mL) refer to drained oil loss chart https://toolbox.teslamotors.com/articles/353700

Remove frunk carpet
Note2x connectors

Remove frunk assembly
Note10x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 10x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm

Remove HEPA filter housing
NoteLift up from bottom and pull out, *Note: There may or may not be a filter in housing based on vehicle configuration

Remove AC hoses from vehicle
-
Release vacuum from AC lines
Note2x Schrader valves, Carefully depress the schrader valves to release vacuum from AC lines
-
Power off vehicle via UI
NoteVia center display > Controls > Safety > Power Off
-
Disconnect 12V negative terminal
Note1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm

Disconnect first responder loop
Note1x connector, push to release

Remove LH front lug nut covers
Note5x lug nut covers
-
Loosen LH front lug nuts
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Remove RH front lug nut covers
Note5x lug nut cover

Loosen RH front lug nuts
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm

Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Remove LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm

Remove RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm

Remove front aero shield
Note6x bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm, 14x clips
-
Remove clips and pull back on LH front wheelhouse liner
Note4x push clips

Remove clip securing LH wheel fairing
Note1x push clip
-
Remove bolts securing LH wheel fairing
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 1.5 Nm
-
Release clips securing front half of LH front fender garnish
Note8x clips, Be cautious of parking sensor
-
Disconnect LH fender garnish parking sensor
Note1x connector, Pull red tab to disengage lock
-
Release clips securing rear half of LH front garnish and remove from vehicle
Note5x clips

Remove screw securing LH fascia to fender
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm
-
Remove clips and pull back on RH front wheelhouse liner
Note4x push clips
-
Remove clip securing RH front wheel fairing
Note1x push clip
-
Remove bolts securing RH front wheel fairing
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 1.5 Nm
-
Release clips securing front half of RH front fender garnish
Note8x clips, Be cautious of park sensor
-
Disconnect LH parking sensor
Note1x connector
-
Release clips securing rear half of RH front garnish and remove from vehicle
Note5x clips
-
Remove screw securing RH fascia to fender
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm
-
Remove bolts securing fascia to upper grill
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm
-
Remove front fascia assembly
Note2x clips, 1x connector, Place fascia onto padded surface, Recommend assistance
-
Place fascia on padded surface
NoteEnsure the front of the fascia is facing down
-
Release edge clips securing active louver harness to active louver assembly
Note2x edge clips
-
Disconnect active louver connector and move harness aside
Note1x connector, Pull red tab to disengage lock, Pull again to release connector
-
Remove active shutter assembly from vehicle
Note2x retaining clips
-
Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

Clamp hose on LH side of radiator
NoteEnsure the hose is not clamped too close to the radiator, allow ample space to manipulate the hose clamp

Clamp hose on RH side of radiator
NoteEnsure the hose is not clamped too close to the radiator, allow ample space to manipulate the hose clamp

Position coolant drain container under LH front corner of vehicle to catch vehicle coolant
-
Remove radiator outlet hose from LH side of radiator
Note1x hose clamp

Remove FDU outlet hose from RH side of radiator
Note1x hose clamp

Remove clip securing cooling fan harness to cooling fan shroud
Note1x fir tree clip
-
Disconnect cooling fan electrical connector
Note1x connector

Remove bolts securing cooling fan shroud to support beam
Note2x bolts, 13mm, 12 Nm
-
Remove upper and lower nuts securing high and low pressure pipes to condenser
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 10 Nm (upper), 20 Nm (lower), Install new O-rings
-
Remove cooling fan module from vehicle
NoteLift the rear of the module (FDU side) up and slide the assembly away from the FEM to remove

Remove coolant drain container from under front of vehicle
-
Remove active louver from fan shroud assembly
Note12x clips, Release clips securing active louver onto fan shroud assembly
-
Remove radiator from fan shroud assembly
Note2x retaining clips, Release retaining clips securing radiator onto fan shroud bracket
-
Clean debris from radiator
NoteVacuum both sides of radiator, Do not damage fins of radiator
-
Clean radiator with compressed air
NoteClean both sides of radiator with compressed air, Do not damage fins of radiator

Install radiator onto fan shroud assembly
Note2x retaining clips, Secure radiator onto fan shroud bracket

Install active louver onto fan shroud assembly
Note12x clips, Secure active louver onto fan shroud assembly

Install cooling fan module into vehicle
NoteInstall the cooling fan module at an angle ensuring the isolators are engaged, The isolator alignment can be checked at a later step and adjusted if needed

Install upper and lower nuts securing high and low pressure pipes to condenser
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 10 Nm (upper), 20 Nm (lower), Install new O-rings

Install bolts securing cooling fan module to support beam
Note2x bolts, 13mm, 12 Nm
-
Connect cooling fan electrical connector
Note1x connector

install clip securing cooling fan harness to cooling fan shroud
Note1x fir tree clip

Install coolant hose on RH side of radiator
Note1x hose clamp

Remove coolant hose clamp for RH side radiator hose
-
Install coolant hose on LH side of radiator
Note1x hose clamp

Remove coolant hose clamp for LH side radiator hose

Install active shutter assembly onto vehicle
Note2x retaining clips

Connect active shutter

Install edge clips securing active shutter harness to active shutter assembly

Install front fascia assembly to vehicle
Note1x connector, Recommend assistance

Install bolts securing fascia to upper grill

Install screw securing RH fascia to fender
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm

Install rear half of RH front fender garnish
Note5x clips
-
Connect RH front fender garnish parking sensor
Note1x connector

Install front half of RH front garnish
Note8x clips, Be cautious of parking sensor, Be sure to align fender ducts
-
Secure bolts for RH front wheel fairing
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 1.5 Nm
-
Secure clip for RH front wheel fairing
Note1x push clip
-
Fully secure RH front wheelhouse liner to fender garnish
Note4x push clips
-
Install screw securing LH fascia to fender
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm
-
Install rear half of LH front fender garnish
Note5x clips
-
Connect RH front fender garnish parking sensor
Note1x connector
-
Install front half of LH front garnish
Note8x clips, Be cautious of parking sensor, Be sure to align fender ducts

Install bolts securing LH front wheel fairing to front aero shield
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 1.5 Nm
-
Install clip securing LH front wheel fairing to front aero shield
Note1x push clip
-
Fully secure LH front wheelhouse liner to fender garnish
Note4x push clips
-
Install RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Thread nuts on by hand
-
Install LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Start lug nuts by hand before using power tool
-
Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged

Install front aero shield
Note6x bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm, 14x clips
-
Lower vehicle until tires are touching ground
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

Torque RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Install RH front lug nut covers
Note5x covers
-
Torque LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Install LH front lug nut covers
Note5x covers
-
Connect first responder loop and then 12V negative terminal
Note1x connector, 1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm

Remove coolant reservoir cap
Note1x cap

Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure coolant is filled using G-48 coolant

Place vehicle in Service Mode
NoteEnter Service mode through touchscreen. Press Car icon => Go to Software tab=> Press and hold ''Model'' for 3 seconds=>In new window type ''service'' or press voice command button on steering wheel and say ''service''=>Press ''OK'' button. Car is in service mode now

Access Thermal System routines using UI

Top off coolant reservoir
NoteEnsure coolant is filled to nominal level

Install coolant reservoir cap

Reconnect AC hoses to vehicle

Perform system vacuum and refrigerant refill
NoteSelect 20 mins of Vacuum, Recharge refrigerant to car's specs, add oil quantity as needed, select both HP and LP for charging

Install HEPA filter housing
NoteAlign opening on back of housing to HEPA filter outlet duct opening, *Note: There may or may not be a filter in housing based on vehicle configuration

Install frunk assembly
Note10x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 10x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm, Hand start all bolts first then tighten with tools

Install frunk carpet

Remove A/C lines from vehicle

Install dust caps onto vehicle high and low side service ports

Re-establish vehicle connection to Toolbox 3
NoteOpen Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to the vehicle. https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner, and select connect locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected)

Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower rack arms fully and move them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode", Via Controls > Service > Jack Mode
