Cable Assembly – Light – Trailer (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle to a comfortable working height. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift .
  3. Carefully remove the clips (x2) that attach the tow hitch dust cover to the rear diffuser.
  4. Release the clip that attaches the trailer harness electrical connector to the trailer hitch.
  5. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the trailer connector housing to the trailer hitch (torque 4.5 Nm).
  6. Disconnect the trailer light adapter cable from the harness.
  7. Pull the trailer light adapter cable assembly through the mounting point until the trailer harness connector and housing are accessible.
  8. Disconnect the trailer light cable assembly from the connector housing.
  9. Pull the grommet through the connector housing, and then remove the trailer light cable assembly.

Installation

  1. Push the new grommet/connector through the mounting bracket.
  2. Pull the trailer light cable assembly through the mounting bracket, and then connect the connector housing to the connector.

    Note
    Make sure that the housing lines up properly with the connector.
  3. Route the new harness upward, and then secure the clip.
  4. Install the screws (x3) that attach the trailer connector housing to the trailer hitch (torque 4.5 Nm).
  5. Connect the new trailer light adapter cable to the vehicle harness.
  6. Install the clips (x2) that attach the tow hitch dust cover to the rear diffuser panel.
  7. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
  8. Close the LH front door.
