CAUTION
For Europe only: Only technicians who have been trained in working with diisocyanates and have completed all required certification courses are permitted to perform procedures using urethane and other products containing diisocyanates. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when working with products containing diisocyanates.

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Open the LH and RH rear doors.
  3. Release the LH and RH B-pillar applique seals from the top of the roof until they clears the front roof applique.

    Do not remove the B-pillar applique seal below the bend between the roof and the B-pillar.

  4. Cover the newly-exposed areas with tape.

  5. Use a glass cutting blade to release the front roof applique from the vehicle.
  6. Remove and discard the front roof applique.
  7. Remove excess urethane from roof area and prepare for installation.

Installation

  1. Clean the installation area with an alcohol wipe. Allow the area to fully dry before continuing to the next step.
  2. Apply primer to the applique as directed by the adhesive manufacturer. Ensure that the primer fully covers any nicks or scratches in the paint.

    Note
    Check the primer and adhesive packaging for the appropriate working times for each product. Prepare the necessary tools and work environment so that the applique can be installed within the specified working times.
  3. Clean the underside of the applique with alcohol wipes. Allow the alcohol to dry fully before continuing to the next step.
  4. Apply primer to the applique as directed by the adhesive manufacturer.

    Check the primer packaging for the appropriate wait time before applying adhesive.
  5. Cut an opening in the urethane applicator tip that is 8 mm wide and 14 mm tall.
  6. Apply the urethane to the applique.
  7. Install front roof applique assembly.

    5x clips, firmly press front roof applique to engaged all the clips, ensure gaps between the applique and the adjacent panels are even front to back and side to side, Clean off any excess urethane
  8. Make sure that the gaps between the applique and the adjacent panels are even front to back and side to side.
  9. Clean off any excess adhesive that was extruded from the joint.
  10. Use tape to temporarily hold the new applique in place.
  11. Reinstall the LH and RH B-pillar applique seals.

  12. Allow the adhesive to dry, as directed by the adhesive manufacturer.

    Warning
    Do not drive the vehicle until the adhesive manufacturer’s recommended minimum drive-away time has passed. Dow Betaseal Express has a drive-away time of 1 hour minimum in temperatures of 0˚F (-18˚C) or warmer. If necessary, leave the tape applying pressure to the glass on the vehicle and advise the customer that they can remove it after 24 hours. Additionally, advise the customer that they should avoid high driving speeds and speed bumps for the next 24 hours.
