Release the locking tab,
disconnect LH rear door ultrasonic sensor electrical connector, and then use a
plastic trim tool to remove the sensor fro the sensor carrier.
CAUTIONUse a plastic trim tool to remove the sensor. Do not use a pick, as this can scratch the vehicle paint.NoteInspect the face of the sensor; make sure that the adhesive that affixed the sensor to the door was removed with the sensor. If any adhesive remains stuck to the door, use a plastic trim tool to remove it.NoteDiscard the ultrasonic sensor after removal.
Installation
CAUTION
The ultrasonic
sensor is a one time use component. If the ultrasonic sensor is removed, it must be
discarded and a new ultrasonic sensor must be installed.
- Attach the 22 mm tip to the force gauge.
- Use IPA wipes to thoroughly clean the sensor mounting area on the door panel.
- Use a spring clamp, bar clamp, or similar tool to gently hold the new sensor with the coupling tape facing up.
-
Use an infrared thermometer to
check the temperature of the door panel. If necessary, use the heat gun to heat
the door panel to at least 25°C (77°F).
CAUTIONDo not continue this procedure unless the door panel is at least 25°C (77°F).
- Remove the protective film from the new sensor.
- Use a heat gun and infrared thermometer to heat the new ultrasonic sensor to 40º–50ºC (104°-122ºF).
-
Install the ultrasonic sensor
onto the LH rear door panel.
CAUTIONWear appropriate PPE to prevent personal injury.
- Use the force gauge to apply a force of 65 N to the sensor for at least 30 seconds.
-
Reinstall the spacer, spring, and
cap to secure the ultrasonic sensor.
NoteWhen reinstalling the spacer, ensure that the flat side faces the sensor.
-
Connect the electrical connector
to the new ultrasonic sensor, and then attach the harness clip to the ultrasonic
sensor carrier.
- Install the LH rear door closeout panel. See Closeout Panel - Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
- Connect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
- Press and hold the close button on the LH B-pillar until the LH rear door fully latches.
-
Position the ultrasonic sensor
target special tool approximately 60 cm out from the center of the LH rear
door.
-
Attach the cap of the target tool
long cable over the rear bolt of the front lifting pad under the vehicle.
-
Attach the cap of the target tool
short cable over the front bolt of the rear lifting pad under the vehicle.
-
Reposition the target tool so
both cables are taut, and then move the target tool cable ring up to just above
the marker.
- Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.
-
Select the door to be
tested:
- For the driver side rear door, in Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "DRV_USS_DOOR" into the search field, click TEST-SELF_BCFALCD_DRV_USS-DOOR-WITH-OBSTACLEvia Toolbox: (link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
- For the passenger side rear door, in Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "PAS_USS_DOOR" into the search field, click TEST-SELF_BCFALCP_PAS_USS-DOOR-WITH-OBSTACLEvia Toolbox: (link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
