Liftgate Assembly (Remove and Install)

Correction Code 10107001

Removal

  1. Remove the liftgate upper trough trim panel (refer to procedure).
  2. Use masking tape to mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the body.
  3. Loosen, but do not remove, the bolts (x4) that attach the liftgate to the body.
  4. Use a telescoping bar to support the liftgate in the open position.
    Tip: Position the support bar against the bracket for better support.
  5. Release the strut clip from the LH liftgate strut, and then release the strut from the liftgate. Repeat this step for the RH liftgate strut.
  6. With asisstance, remove the bolts that attach the liftgate to the body, and then remove the liftgate from the vehicle.
    38 Nm (28.0 lbs-ft)

    This step requires at least 2 assistants to support and remove the liftgate from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  • Remove the location marks from the body.
  • Adjust the liftgate for proper gap and flushness.
  • For vehicles with Active Spoiler:
    1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
    2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
    3. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "X_Spoiler" into the search field, click PROC_BCREAR_X_SPOILERSearch for routine in ToolboxRun BCREAR Spoiler Routine, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    4. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
