Module - Rear Body Controller - BCM (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 17152302
Choose the appropriate procedure based on the vehicle's configuration and date of manufacture:
- Vehicles built through October 18, 2016, refer to 1st Generation
- Vehicles built after October 18, 2016, refer to 2nd Generation
1st Generation
Remove
- Open the liftgate and LH rear door.
- Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
- Remove the trunk floor carpet (refer to procedure).
- Remove the liftgate rear wall trim (refer to procedure).
- Release the clips that secure the rear body controller module harnesses to the rear wall of the trunk.

Remove and discard the nuts (x4) that secure the rear body controller to the studs on the rear wall of the trunk (torque 5 Nm).

Disconnect the electrical connectors from the bottom of the rear body controller.
- Remove the rear body controller from the vehicle.
Install
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
CAUTION
The nuts are patched and are 1-time use only. Replace the nuts.

Update the vehicle
firmware. See Firmware Update.
Tip: Connect 12V power and start the firmware update before reinstalling the components that were removed for access.
2nd Generation
Remove
- Open the liftgate and LH rear door.
- Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
- Remove the trunk floor carpet (refer to procedure).
- Remove the liftgate rear wall trim (refer to procedure).
- Remove the LH C-pillar lower zone bracket (refer to procedure).

Remove the fasteners that secure the rear body controller to the body (torque 3.5 Nm).
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear body controller.
- Remove the rear body controller from the vehicle.
Install
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Update the vehicle
firmware. See Firmware Update.
Tip: Connect 12V power and start the firmware update before reinstalling the components that were removed for access.
