Window Motor/Regulator Assembly - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 11502002

Removal

  1. Remove the front door glass (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the front nuts (x2) that secure the regulator to the door (torque 10 Nm).
  3. Remove the rear nuts (x2) that secure the regulator to the door (torque 10 Nm).
  4. Disconnect the harness from the top of the regulator motor.
  5. Remove the screws (x3) that secure the window motor to the door (torque 1.8 Nm).
  6. Push the regulator outboard so that the studs no longer protrude through the door shell.
  7. Push both regulator beams together and remove the regulator from the door.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Always replace plugs or tape removed from the front door shells when servicing or inspecting the door or its components. Additional holes in the door creates more escape paths for air, which decreases the front door pressure sensor's ability detect a side impact, and can negatively affect airbag deployment.

Note
Close the door latch with a small screwdriver before testing the new window regulator. The door latch must be closed in order for the new window regulator to function.
  • Inspect the cable tie on the new regulator to make sure that the cable tie is not too tight or too loose. If the cable tie is too tight or too loose, perform the following:

    CAUTION
    The cable tie should not move by itself, but should be able to move side to side with force.
    1. Use diagonal cutters to remove the existing cable tie from the new regulator.
    2. Measure 70 mm from the end of the spring near the window motor, and mark the location.
    3. At the marked location, fasten a new cable tie with a 7.5 mm drill bit inserted in the loop.

      The drill bit is used to make sure that the cable tie is not too loose or too tight.

      Verify that the barrel clip on the cable tie faces the same direction as the regulator mounting stud.
    4. Trim the excess cable tie, and then remove the drill bit from the loop.
    5. Check that cable tie does not move by itself, but is be able to move side to side with force.
Perform the following steps to install the 2 upper fasteners that secure the regulator:
  1. Use a 3 mm hex tool to fully tighten the jack screw.
  2. Loosen the jack screw 3 complete turns.
  3. Fully torque the nut that secures the regulator to the door (torque 10 Nm).
Perform the following steps to install the 2 lower fasteners that secure the regulator:
  1. Use a 3 mm hex tool to fully tighten the jack screw.
  2. Fully torque the nut that secures the regulator to the door (torque 10 Nm).
After installing the regulator, route the latching cable in front of the regulator.

Do not route the latching cable behind the regulator.
