Retractor - Seatbelt - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Note
In the event of an airbag or seat belt tensioner deployment, certain airbag and seat belt components must be replaced, and other components must be inspected for damage. Refer to SRS Inspection and Component Replacement for a specific list of items that must be inspected and replaced.

Remove

  1. Remove the 3rd row seat assembly (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the seat back carpet (refer to procedure).
  3. Separate the clips that secure the seat fabric to the seat back panel.
  4. Use a drill with a 3/16 in bit to remove the rivets from the seat back panel.
  5. Release the harness clip from the seat back panel.
  6. Carefully separate the seat back panel from the seat frame to access the release cables, and then cut the cable tie and separate the release cables from the seat back panel.
  7. Remove the seat back panel from the seat frame.
  8. Remove the fasteners that secure the seat belt escutcheon to the seat frame (torque 2.5 Nm).
  9. Use a trim tool to release the clips at the top of the seat belt escutcheon, and then separate the seat belt escutcheon from the seat frame.
  10. Remove and discard the bolt that secures the seat belt lower mounting bracket to the seat frame (torque 45 Nm).

    CAUTION
    Replace all patchbolt(s).
  11. Remove and discard the bolt that secures the seat belt retractor assembly to the seat frame (torque 45 Nm), and then remove the seat belt retractor assembly from the seat frame.

  12. Remove the fasteners that secure the headrest release actuator to the seat frame, and then remove the release actuator from the vehicle.

    Note
    This step is necessary in order to vacuum debris in the next step.
  13. Clean the debris from the seat frame area with a vacuum.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

If the component was replaced due to an internal failure:
  1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
  3. In Toolbox 3, click Dashboards > Service Tools > DTCs, and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
  4. Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
  5. Power cycle the vehicle.
  6. Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
  7. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
