Brake Rotor - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the rear wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the park brake rear brake caliper. See Brake Caliper - Rear - Park Brake - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. If the brake pads are being replaced, remove them from the caliper. See Brake Pad Kit - Rear - Brembo (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    If the brake pads are not being replaced, continue this procedure.
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that secure the caliper to the knuckle (torque 120 Nm).
  5. Release the caliper and use the S-hook to support it.
  6. If installed, remove the screw that secures the rotor to the hub (torque 17 Nm).

    Some vehicles may not have this fastener installed from the factory.
  7. Remove the rotor from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Clean the affected areas before installation.

CAUTION
Ensure that the brake hose is aligned correctly with no excessive twist or bends.
  • Do not install the bolt that attaches the rotor to the hub.
  • Pump the brake pedal at least 5 times to seat the pads against the brake rotor.

    Always check that the brake pads are seated correctly before driving the vehicle.
  • Ensure that the electric park brake works as expected.
  • Burnish the brake pads. See Brake Pads - Burnishing.
  • Burnish the parking brake pads. See Brake Pads - Park Brake - Burnishing.
