Removal
- Remove the 2nd row seat assembly (refer to procedure) and place it on the padded surface.
- Remove the back cover from the seat(refer to procedure).
-
Release the fasteners that
secure the seat back cushion to the seat frame.
-
If equipped, disconnect the
seat heater harness electrical connector. Route the harness through the seat
back to move it out of the working area.
NoteIf the harness is secured to the seat belt retractor with a cable tie, remove the cable tie.
- Gently separate the seat back cushion from the seat frame.
-
Release the fasteners that
secure the seat belt upper bezel to the seat back cushion. Remove the bezel
from the seat.
- Return the seat back cushion to its original position.
-
Use a pick to release the
plastic covers that conceal the screws on the bottom of the seat.
- Remove the screws that secure the plastic trim to the bottom of the seat frame.
-
Use a trim tool to release
the clips that secure the lower trim panel to the bottom of the seat
frame.
NoteOn some vehicles, the panel remains as a captive part of the seat and cannot be removed.
-
Starting at the outer rear
corner, peel the lower cushion trim (upholstery) away from the bottom of the
seat frame. This allows the lower cushion trim and foam to be lifted in the
next step.
-
Lift up the seat bottom
cushion so that it touches the backrest
-
Remove and discard the bolt
and nut that secure the seat belt anchor to the seat frame (torque 45
Nm).
NoteIf a washer is installed on this joint, note how it is installed, and then set it aside for reuse.
-
Release the 4 tabs that
secure the lower seat belt bezel to the seat bottom cushion.
- Remove the lower seat belt bezel from the seat belt.
-
Remove the lower fasteners
that secure the headrest bracket.
-
Pull back the headrest
upholstery, then remove the upper fasteners that secure the headrest
bracket. Remove the headrest bracket from the vehicle.
-
Remove the 6 fasteners that
secure the seat back, but do not remove the seat back.
NoteThis allows the seat back to flex enough to allow the bolt that secures the seat belt retractor to be removed in a later step.
- Pull the seat belt out through the rear of the seat back.
-
Disconnect the electrical
harness connector from the seat belt retractor.
NoteIf the harness is secured to the seat belt retractor with a cable tie, remove the cable tie.
-
Use a hot-blade knife to
remove a section of the seat back as shown.
-
Loosen the bolt that secures
the seat belt retractor to the seat frame (torque 45 Nm).
NoteIt is only necessary to release the seat belt retractor from the seat frame; the fastener is secured to the retractor with a locking washer and can not be removed.
