Fender Assembly - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 10103002

Removal

  1. Remove the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  2. Remove the front underhood apron assembly. See Assembly - Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace) .
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Center - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Release the clips (x2) that attach the LH outer hood hinge cover to the vehicle, and then remove the cover.
  5. Release the clip that attaches the LH wheel fairing to the LH front fender garnish and front fascia lower valance.
  6. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH wheel fairing to the LH front fender garnish and front fascia lower valance.
  7. Release the clips (x8) that attach the front half of the LH front fender garnish to the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage the parking sensor harness.
  8. Carefully flex the front half of the LH front fender garnish outwards, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the LH front fender garnish park assist sensor.
  9. Release the clips (x5) that attach the rear half of the LH front fender garnish to the vehicle, and then remove the garnish from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install) .
  11. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH fascia to fender mounting bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the bracket.
    Tip: Use a pick tool to release the bracket retaining clips.
  12. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x2) to the side repeater and camera assembly.
  13. Release the clips (x2) that attach the side repeater and camera assembly to the LH front fender, and then remove the assembly from the vehicle.
  14. Apply protective tape to the edges of the lower A-pillar and LH front door that are adjacent to the LH front fender.
  15. Carefully pull on the LH front fender baffle to release the baffle, and then remove it from the vehicle.
  16. Release the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness to the inner LH front fender.
  17. Remove the bolt that attaches the inner LH front fender to the vehicle.
  18. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the upper LH front fender to the vehicle.
  19. Remove the bolt that attaches the rear part of the LH front fender to the vehicle.
  20. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH rocker panel to the LH front fender.
  21. Carefully pull back the LH rocker panel molding and remove the bolt that attaches the lower LH front fender to the vehicle.
  22. Remove the bolt that attaches the inner LH front fender bracket to the front of the vehicle.
  23. Remove the LH front fender from the vehicle.

Installation

  1. Position the new LH front fender on the vehicle.
  2. Install the bolt that attaches the inner LH front fender bracket to the front of the vehicle (torque 8 Nm).
  3. Carefully pull back the LH rocker panel molding and install the bolt that attaches the lower LH front fender to the vehicle (torque 8 Nm).

  4. Install the bolt that attaches the LH rocker panel to the LH front fender (torque 1.5 Nm).
  5. Install the bolt that attaches the rear part of the LH front fender to the vehicle (torque 8 Nm).
  6. Apply 3 coats of touch up paint to the bolt that attaches the rear part of the LH front fender to the vehicle.

    Note
    Let the 2nd coat dry for 20 minutes before applying the 3rd coat.
  7. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the upper LH front fender to the vehicle (torque 8 Nm).
  8. Apply 3 coats of touch up paint to the bolts that attach the upper LH front fender to the vehicle.

    Note
    Let the 2nd coats dry for 20 minutes before applying the 3rd coats.
  9. Install the bolt that attaches the inner LH front fender to the vehicle (torque 8 Nm).
  10. Install the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness to the inner LH front fender.
  11. Position the LH front fender baffle on the LH front fender, pressing the baffle snugly against the rear panel of the fender.

    Note
    Pass the electrical harness through the slot on the baffle.
  12. Remove the protective tape from the lower A-pillar and LH front door.
  13. Position the side repeater and camera assembly on the LH front fender, and then install the clips (x2) that attach the assembly to the fender.
  14. Connect the electrical connectors (x2) to the side repeater and camera assembly.
  15. Check fender gap and flush against the LH A-pillar and LH front door, and adjust if necessary.
  16. For China, Japan and Korea only: Install a new motor ID label on the fender.
  17. Position the LH fascia to fender mounting bracket on the vehicle, and then install the clips and bolt that attach the bracket to the vehicle (torque 4 Nm).
  18. Install the front fascia assembly. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install)
  19. Install the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  20. Position the LH outer hood hinge cover on the LH hood hinge, and then install the clips (x2) that attach the cover to the vehicle.
  21. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Center - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the front underhood apron assembly. See Assembly - Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace) .
