Garnish - Fender - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 12201202

  • 2023-05-18: Added a video at Step 6 in Removal part to avoid damage to components and/or personal injury.

Removal

  1. Air suspension vehicles: Set the air suspension to the "Very High" setting.
  2. Release the push clips (x4) that secure the front of the front wheel arch liner to the body.
    Tip: Adjust the angle of the tires as necessary to access the push clips.
  3. Carefully move the front of the wheel arch liner away from the working area.
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) and push clip that secure the front of the fender garnish to the wheel fairing (torque 1.5 Nm).
  5. Starting from the rear, carefully pull the fender garnish away from the vehicle to release the heart flex clips (x5) that secure it to the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    The park assist sensor is still connected to the harness; do not attempt to remove the fender garnish at this point.

  6. Disconnect the park assist sensor electrical connector.
  7. Remove the front fender garnish from the vehicle.
  8. Carefully use a pick to release the stab clip from the front of the rocker panel molding.
  9. Use a magnet to remove the stab clip from the rocker panel molding. Discard the stab clip.

    CAUTION
    This part is a one-time use component.
  10. Remove the screw that secures the wheel fairing to the fender garnish (torque 1.5 Nm). Release the wheel fairing.
  11. Use a plastic trim tool to carefully release and remove the parking sensor from the fender garnish.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

CAUTION
Replace any broken clips.
  1. Install a new stab clip:
    1. Use a magnet to maneuver the stab clip into place.
    2. Use a pocket screwdriver to secure the stab clip to the front of the rocker panel molding.
    3. Ensure that the stab clip is fully secured to the rocker panel molding.
