SIM Card (Intel based MCU without SIM extender) (Remove and Replace)

- 2024-09-25: Rearranged ESD wrist strap and SIM card installation steps to align with validation.
Removal
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.

In Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "Profile-Backup" into the search field, click PROC_ICE_X_PROFILE-BACKUPSearch for routine in ToolboxBackup User Profile, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
NoteIf the backup was not successful, contact Service Engineering.CAUTIONDo not disable the MCU if the backup was not successful.
- Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Remove the MCU from the vehicle (refer to procedure)

Make sure that the ESD wrist strap is grounded, and then put it on.
CAUTIONAvoid damaging components inside the MCU. Wear an ESD wrist strap that must be grounded and worn throughout this procedure until instructed to remove it.

Remove SIM card from MCU.
CAUTIONMove release tab to eject card, use pocket screw driver at indicated area to allow card to move unobstructed.
Installation

Make sure that the ESD wrist strap is grounded, and then put it on.
CAUTIONAvoid damaging components inside the MCU. Wear an ESD wrist strap that must be grounded and worn throughout this procedure until instructed to remove it.

Install the SIM card into the MCU.
CAUTIONThe SIM card chip must be installed facing upward. Verify the SIM card is firmly seated and the lock tab is in place.

Install the MCU into the vehicle (refer to procedure)
NoteFor China only, after installment, make sure to authenticate the new SIM card. Refer to article 5655500 for more details.
