Heater - Front PTC (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 18106302
Warning
Only technicians who have been
trained in High Voltage (HV) Awareness and have completed all required
certification courses (if applicable) are permitted to perform this procedure.
Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a
minimum rating of class 0 (1000V) must be worn any time a high voltage cable is
handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, "High Voltage Awareness
Care Points" for additional safety information.
Removal
- Open both front doors and lower the windows.
- Open the hood.
- Move the RH seat rearward for access.
- Remove the glove box (refer to procedure).
- Remove the RH center console closeout extension (refer to procedure).
- Remove the underhood storage unit (refer to procedure).
- Perform the vehicle electrical isolation procedure (refer to procedure).
- Remove the cowl screen panel (refer to procedure).
- Remove the HEPA filter duct (refer to procedure).

Disconnect the PTC heater HV
cable connector from the forward junction box.

Push the HV cable grommet through
the bulkhead towards the interior of the vehicle.

Carefully pull the HV cable
through the bulkhead into the cabin of the vehicle.
- Remove the front passenger's knee air bag (refer to procedure).

Remove the passenger's knee air
bag bracket:
- Remove the screw (torque 1 Nm) that attaches the RH footwell duct to the HVAC assembly, and then remove the RH footwell duct.

Remove the screws (x3) that
secure the PTC heater to the front HVAC assembly (torque 1.2 Nm).

Disconnect the PTC heater logic
connector.

- Remove the PTC heater from the HVAC assembly and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
CAUTION
Replace all patchbolt(s).
Note
Later revisions of the PTC
heater come with a white KET connector. This connector is fully backwards
compatible and does not need to be replaced by the brown KET
connector.
- Clean the interior of the HVAC casing prior to assembly.
- Calibrate the falcon doors from the MCU.
- Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen.
