Note
This procedure assumes the vehicle suspension is operating as intended. If needed, a vehicle general inspection can be performed.

Note
Make sure the vehicle profiles on the alignment machine match the alignment specifications in the Service Manual. If alignment specifications do not match, they may need to be manually entered; refer to the alignment machine's instructions for additional information.

  1. At the alignment rack, verify that the turn and slip plates are locked.
  2. Latch the passenger seat belt to the driver buckle.
  3. Enable Service Mode +. See Service Mode Plus.
  4. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.
  5. If the fasteners that secure the steering rack, steering column, intermediate shaft, tie rods, or front subframe have been loosened or removed, perform a Lock To Lock-Angle test. See Lock To Lock-Angle Test.
  6. Exit the vehicle, and then place wheel chocks at both sides of the LH rear wheel, and then manually latch the driver door.
  7. Raise the alignment rack to a comfortable working height.
  8. Install inflation hoses onto all four wheels so that tire pressures can be set automatically.
  9. Set the tire machine pressures to match those specified for the vehicle.

    Note
    Refer to the "Tire and Loading Information" label located on the driver side B-pillar.
  10. Install the alignment heads to the center of the each wheel, and then adjust the side arms as necessary to grip tires securely.
  11. Verify chassis height measurement tool is zeroed at 51 mm, and adjust if necessary.
  12. Remove tire pressure hoses from valve stems, and reinstall the valve stem cap.
  13. Tesla Air Suspension Only - In Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "Level to Height" into the search field, click , select Cycle, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.

    Note
    Make sure the liftgate and all doors are closed when cycling the suspension height. If necessary, take the laptop out of the vehicle, running the cable through the open window.
  14. Tesla Air Suspension Only - Click the Action tab, type "Check ride height" into the search field, click PROC_TAS_X_CHECK-RIDE-HEIGHT-CALIBRATIONSearch for routine in ToolboxCheck Tesla Ride Height Calibration, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.

    If the routine fails, perform Air Suspension Calibration. SeeCalibration. If the calibration fails, find the root cause before continuing this procedure.
  15. Shift the vehicle to neutral.
  16. At the alignment machine, click/touch Begin Alignment and then enter the Service Visit information into the alignment machine.
  17. Verify that the turn plates are left right centered to the front tires, and reposition the plates as necessary.
  18. Remove the wheel chocks from the LH rear tire, move the vehicle forward by slowly rotating the tire counter-clockwise so that the front wheels center onto the turn plates, and then install the wheel chocks on either side of the tire.

    Note
    The turn and slip plates should automatically unlock.
  19. Apply brake pedal depressor.
  20. Perform a steering wheel caster sweep, then center and level the steering wheel, and then install the steering wheel lock to keep the steering wheel in position.
  21. Raise the alignment rack higher so as to work under the vehicle.
  22. Remove the LH and RH shear plate.

    Discard nylon nut after removal.

  23. Remove the mid aero shield panel. See .
  24. Perform the rear toe adjustment as necessary.
    80 Nm (59.0 lbs-ft)
  25. Perform the front camber adjustment as necessary.
    130 Nm (95.9 lbs-ft)
  26. Perform the front caster adjustment as necessary.
    130 Nm (95.9 lbs-ft)
  27. Lower 4-post lift and set onto locks.
  28. Perform a steering wheel caster sweep, then center and level the steering wheel, and then install the steering wheel lock to keep the steering wheel in position.
  29. Raise the alignment rack higher so as to work under the vehicle.
  30. Remove the steering wheel lock, perform a caster sweep of the steering wheel, re-center the steering wheel with the level, and then reinstall the steering wheel lock.
  31. Perform the front toe adjustment as necessary.
    70 Nm (51.6 lbs-ft)
  32. Print the vehicle alignment summary, including the before and after results.

    Repeat the adjustment for any parameter that is not within specification.

  35. Remove the alignment heads from all four wheels.
  36. Clear the angle offsets using Toolbox 3 (substeps below) or Service Mode (next step):
    1. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "Angle-Offsets" into the search field, click PROC_EPAS_ESP_CLEAR-ANGLE-OFFSETSSearch for routine in ToolboxEPAS ESP Clear Angle OffsetsChassis ➜ Alignment & Tires ➜ Clear Applied Offset, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    2. Skip to step 38.
  37. Using Service Mode:
    1. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Service Mode (spanner icon).
    2. Touch Chassis (damper icon) and then touch Alignment & Tires.
    3. Touch Clear Applied Offset, and then touch Run.
  38. Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  39. Remove the steering wheel lock, the brake pedal depressor, the steering wheel level, and then place the vehicle into Park.
  40. Use exterior door handle to release the driver door latch.
  41. Remove the wheel chocks.
  42. Remove the vehicle from the alignment rack.
  43. Exit Service Mode.
  44. Test drive the vehicle.
