Note
After disconnecting 12V power, the rear doors and liftgate are inoperable. Open any necessary closures before proceeding.

Warning
If the 12V power supply is disconnected, do not attempt to open the front doors with door glass in closed position. Failure to follow this instruction could result in door glass shatter.

Note
Before disconnecting the 12V power supply, make sure that the driver’s door window is fully open. Failure to follow this instruction could result in vehicle lockout.
  1. Open the front trunk.
  2. If the vehicle is charging, remove the charge cable.
  3. On the touchscreen, power off the climate control system, and wait at least 30 seconds for the climate control system to completely shut down.
  4. Make sure the vehicle is in Park.
  5. Fully lower all door windows to avoid glass shatter and door lockout conditions.
  6. Remove the HEPA filter housing (refer to procedure).
  7. Open the driver's door and any door that might need to be open during the service procedure.
  8. Turn off vehicle power from the touchscreen by touching Controls > E-brake & Power Off > Power off.
  9. Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal clamp (torque 5 Nm).
  10. Disconnect the first responder loop.

    CAUTION
    Do not cut the first responder loop.
  11. Wait at least 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge.

    Warning
    Before servicing post pack contactor high voltage components on the DC Link, verify the pack contactors are open by performing the vehicle HV disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure. If servicing the pack contactors themselves, disconnect low voltage power and remove the HV pyro fuse/disconnect. See Fuse - Pyrotechnic - HV Battery 1.0/1.5 (Remove and Install) or Fuse - Pyrotechnic - HV Battery 2.0 (Remove and Install). If servicing the HV pyro fuse/disconnect, be aware that high voltage will always be present at the fuse.

Note
Connect is reverse of disconnect, except for the following:
Upon reconnecting 12V power, the vehicle touchscreen displays the "Calibration Needed" alert.
  1. Clear the area around and remove any obstacles near the rear doors in preparation to calibrate the doors.

    Warning
    Stay clear of the rear doors during the calibration routine. Calibration mode overrides the safety sensors and the doors will not stop for any obstacles in their path.
  2. Touch and hold the CALIBRATE button on the Model X touchscreen until the rear doors have been fully calibrated, close completely, and the message "CALIBRATION COMPLETE" is displayed.

    Note
    During calibration, the lower doors open all the way out, the upper doors move all the way down, and then the lower doors close. Both rear doors cycle through the calibration routine simultaneously, taking less than 1 minute to complete.

    Continue to hold the Calibrate button for an additional 5 seconds after the calibration routine is complete.
