Air Suspension Lines - Front (Remove and Replace)

Special tools required for this procedure:

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the window.
  2. Enable Jack Mode. SeeJack Mode Activation.
  3. Loosen the RH front wheel lug nuts.
  4. Depressurize the front air spring modules. See Air Suspension - Pressurize/Depressurize - One Air Spring.
  5. Remove the underhood storage unit. SeeUnderhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the HEPA filter. See Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  7. Disconnect 12V power. SeeDisconnect 12V Power.
  8. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the HEPA filter duct. SeeDuct - HEPA Filter (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the push clips that attach the cowl screen panel mounting to the body.
  11. Use a crowfoot extension to release the air spring module line (blue) from the top of the front LH shock tower (torque 2 Nm).

    CAUTION
    Plug the line connection to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.
  12. Release the clips that secure the air spring module line (blue) to the body.
  13. Use two wrenches to release the air suspension line (larger diameter black) from the RH side of the reservoir, one to hold the mounting (13mm) and a crowfoot extension to turn the fitting (12mm) (torque 5 Nm).

    CAUTION
    Plug the line connection to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.
  14. Use a crowfoot extension to release the air spring module line (yellow) from the top of the front RH shock tower (torque 2 Nm).

  15. Release the clip that secures the front air suspension lines (blue, yellow, and larger diameter black) to the front crossmember.

    Note
    If there is a Schrader fill valve located at this clip, retain the valve for reuse with the installation of the replacement lines.
  16. Remove the RH front wheel. SeeWheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  17. Remove the front RH wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  18. Remove the front harness clips from the RH frame rail to access the air lines.
  19. Release the reservoir line (larger diameter black) from the air suspension valve block (torque 3.5 Nm).

  20. Release the front air spring module lines (blue and yellow) from the air suspension valve block (torque 3.5 Nm).

  21. From inside the front RH fender well, release the clips that secure the front air suspension line bundle to the body.
  22. Remove the front air suspension line bundle from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
  1. For each released end of an air suspension line, install and hand-tighten a new collet and nut (VOSS fitting).

    Note
    A plastic plug holds the fitting together before and during installation.
  2. Remove the plastic plug from each new fitting.
  3. Insert the appropriate air suspension line fully into each fitting, and then lightly pull on each line to make sure that it is secure.
  4. Make sure that all air suspension lines are securely reconnected before continuing.
  5. Install the Schrader fill valve. See Fill Valve - Air (Retrofit).

    Note
    Reuse the same Schrader fill valve if one was previously installed. Compress the black collars to remove the lines from the valve.
  6. Refill the air suspension system with Nitrogen. See Air Suspension - Pressurize/Depressurize - Full System .

    If the front air suspension lines were replaced because of a leak, perform the additional steps to purge the accumulated moisture from the dryer.
