Carrier - Sensor - Ultrasonic - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 11334702
- 2023-07-20: Highlighted adhesive application conditions in step #4.
Special tools required for this procedure:
Part Number | Description |
1832533-00-A | Jig, Ultrasonic Sensor Install, MX |
1080580-00-A | Heat gun |
1080603-00-A | Infrared thermometer |
1080978-00-A | Force gauge |
1080978-10-A | 22 mm diameter tip for force gauge with foam pad |
Removal
- Remove the ultrasonic sensor. See Sensor - Ultrasonic - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
-
Aim the infrared thermometer
at the face of the ultrasonic sensor carrier. Use the heat gun to heat the
ultrasonic sensor carrier to 55 degrees C (131 degrees F)
WarningTo avoid personal injury, wear heat resistant gloves.
- Separate the ultrasonic sensor carrier from the door, one leg at a time, and then remove the ultrasonic sensor carrier from the vehicle.
Installation
- Use a plastic scraper to clean the excess adhesive tape from the 3 mounting areas on the door panel.
- Use alcohol wipes to clean the three mounting areas on the door panel. Make sure that the mounting areas are clean and dry before continuing to the next step.
-
Use an infrared thermometer to check the temperature of the door panel. If
necessary, use the heat gun to heat the door panel to at least 25 degrees C
(77 degrees F).
CAUTIONDo not continue this procedure unless the temperature of the door panel is at least 25 degrees C (77 degrees F).
-
Apply 3M Automotive Adhesion
Promoter 4298 to the 3 mounting areas on the door panel, taking the notes
below into account.
NoteMake sure to apply the adhesion promotor to the entire carrier feet adhesion areas.NoteMake sure to allow the adhesion promoter to cure for at least one minute before continuing to the next step.
- Position the LH ultrasonic sensor install jig into the two butyl cut-outs.
- Peel of the protective film from the ultrasonic sensor carrier legs, and then install the carrier with the harness slot in the bottom position.
- Use the force gauge to apply a force of 70 N to each carrier leg for at least 10 seconds.
- Remove the LH ultrasonic sensor install jig.
-
Install a new ultrasonic
sensor. See Sensor - Ultrasonic - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
NoteThe adhesive on the ultrasonic sensor is one time use only. Therefore, always install a new ultrasonic sensor once it was removed.
