Tesla | 1082171-00-A | S-hook |
Warning
If the vehicle has air
suspension, activate "Jack" mode on the touchscreen before raising and
supporting the vehicle.
Removal
- Loosen the lug nuts on the LH rear wheel.
-
Remove the wheel center cap.
-
Loosen the hub nut (torque 245
Nm).
-
Raise and support vehicle
NoteSet air suspension to "Jack Mode" Via Controls > Service > ''Jack Mode''
-
Place vehicle into "Tow Mode" via
.
- Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
-
Disconnect the LH rear mando brake
caliper harness connector.
-
Remove the two bolts (torque 120 Nm)
that attach the LH rear Mando brake caliper and hang it aside using the S-hook.
CAUTIONTo avoid damage to the brake line, the brake caliper must be supported at all times.
-
Remove the LH rear axle nut (torque
245 Nm).
-
Setup the hub puller onto LH rear hub
and bearing assembly.
Noteuse 2x lug nuts and 2x hub puller washers.
-
Use hub puller to free the LH rear
halfshaft from the hub splines.
-
Remove the hub puller from the LH Rear
hub assembly.
-
Remove the patch bolt (torque 17 Nm)
that attaches the LH rear brake rotor to the hub and bearing assembly.
NoteDiscard the patch bolt after removal.
- Remove the LH rear brake rotor from the hub and bearing assembly.
-
Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the
hub to the LH rear knuckle (torque 90 Nm).
-
Remove LH rear hub and bearing from
knuckle assembly. Put the hub on a non-magnetic surface.
CAUTIONA magnetic field from a pick-up tool or magnetic parts tray could permanently damage the magnetic pattern on the hub/bearing tone ring.
Installation
-
Use the magnetic field viewing card to
ensure that the magnetic field on the tone ring is not damaged.
-
Prior to installation, clean the
mating surfaces of the LH rear driven hub and wheel speed sensor.
NoteClean area of any debris or grease. ensure a clean surface for reading of THE wheel speed sensor. Allow 1 minute for IPA to dry.
-
Apply Molykote M-77 to the outboard
side of LH axle shaft.
NoteClean if necessary. Apply no more than 1 gram to athe xle only. Do not apply Molykote M-77 to the splines.
-
Apply grease to the axle splines
before installing the new hub into the LH Rear knuckle.
-
Install LH Rear hub bolts and torque
bolts securing hub and bearing to knuckle assembly
Note4x bolts, 18mm, 90 Nm
-
When installing the LH rear halfshaft
into the hub and bearing assembly, use a new washer (nut can be reused).
NoteDo not torque at this time. This will be done at a later step.
-
After installation is complete, torque
the LH rear axle nut (torque 245 Nm).
- Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
