Assembly - Top Pad - Instrument Panel (Remove and Install)

Correction Code 14054801

Removal

  1. Move the steering wheel to its lowest, most-extended position.
  2. Open both front doors.
  3. Open the glove box.
  4. Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
  5. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side covers (refer to procedure).
  6. On each side of the vehicle, release the screw that secures the top pad to the IP bracket (torque 1.2 Nm)
  7. Remove the binnacle cover.
  8. Release the screws (x2) that secure the top pad to the IP carrier (torque 1.2 Nm).
  9. Remove the glove box (refer to procedure).
  10. Wear an ESD wrist strap and ground the strap to the cross car beam.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the Autopilot ECU.
  12. Remove the fasteners that secure the Autopilot ECU to the cross car beam (torque 5 Nm).
  13. Remove the Autopilot ECU from the vehicle.
  14. Remove the recirculation NVH hood.
  15. Release the screws (x2) that secure the air bag to the cross car beam (torque 10 Nm).
  16. Disconnect the harnesses (x3) from the airbag.

    Note
    RHD vehicles have only one airbag connector.
  17. Carefully release the clips (x19) that secure the top pad to the IP carrier, but do not remove the top pad at this time.

    CAUTION
    Only release 1 clip at a time.
    Tip: Use an inflatable wedge to release the clips.
  18. Carefully lift up the top pad. Release the retaining strap that secures the top pad to the MCU. Do not fully remove the top pad at this time.
  19. Release the barrel clips (x2) that secure the airbag harnesses to the airbag.
  20. Remove the top pad and place it on a protected surface.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
