Bracket - License Plate - Front (Retrofit)

Procedure

  1. Clean the affected area.
  2. If the license plate alignment tool is available:
    1. Position the license plate alignment tool on the upper grille bright trim.
      Tip: If necessary, use painter's tape to hold the license plate alignment tool to the fascia.
    2. Use a paint pen to mark the fascia at the center of the holes (x3) in the license plate alignment tool.
    3. Remove the license plate alignment tool.
  3. If the license plate alignment tool is not available:
    1. Test fit the license plate bracket. Ensure that the middle hole in the license plate bracket is centered to the middle of the front upper grille brightwork and the bottom of the license plate bracket is flush with the front fascia.
      Tip: Use painter's tape or similar means of ensuring that the hole is completely centered to the brightwork.
    2. Use a paint pen to mark the fascia at the center of the holes (x3) in the license plate bracket.
    3. Remove the license plate bracket.
  4. Use a 7/64 in (3 mm) drill bit to drill a hole through the fascia in the areas marked in the previous step.

    Wear protective eyewear and hearing protection when drilling.

    CAUTION
    Only drill through the skin of the fascia. Drilling too far can result in damage to the vehicle.
  5. Clean the affected area.
  6. Install the license plate bracket by securing it with the self-tapping screws (x3) (torque 0.5 Nm).

    CAUTION
    Do not overtorque the screws.
