Charge Port - Manual Release of Cable

Only technicians who have been trained in High Voltage (HV) Awareness and have completed all required certification courses (if applicable) are permitted to perform this procedure. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a minimum rating of class 0 (1000V) must be worn any time a high voltage cable is handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, "High Voltage Awareness Care Points" for additional safety information.

Release Cable

  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  3. Perform the charge port voltage check. See Charge Port Voltage Check.
  4. Remove the load floor.
  5. Remove the mid C-Pillar trim panel (refer to procedure).
  6. Partially release the LH rear trunk carpet assembly.

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage component(s).
  7. Open the NVH padding access flap.

  8. Press the release lever towards the front of the vehicle and hold it in place while an assistant removes the charge cable from the charge port. Once the charge cable is removed, release the lever.
  9. Close the NVH padding access flap.
  10. Reinstall all components that were removed for access.
