Receiver Dryer and Desiccant (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 18202002
- 2024-09-10: Added warnings to wear suitable protective clothing, consisting of face and eye protection, heat-proof gloves, rubber boots and apron or waterproof overalls must be worn when carrying out operations on the air conditioning system.
- 2024-04-02: Added reminding of checking the pressure of A/C system before opening the accumulator.
Warning
HFO-R1234yf and R134a are considered
hazardous liquids and if handled incorrectly can cause serious injury. Suitable
protective clothing, consisting of face and eye protection, heat-proof gloves, rubber
boots and apron or waterproof overalls must be worn when carrying out operations on the
air conditioning system.
Note
The desiccant bag in the receiver
dryer is a serviceable item and must be replaced every 4 years, whenever the system
is opened to ambient air for an extended time, or when an A/C system leak has been
fixed.
Note
The desiccant is located in the LH
side of the condenser.

Removal
- Position the vehicle on a lift but do not lift it at this time.

Recover refrigerant from the vehicle (refer to procedure).
WarningMake sure there is no pressure in the A/C system before performing the following steps. Failure to do so may result in damage to components and/or personal injury.
- Remove the front aero shield panel (refer to procedure).
- Remove the 4 bolts and 6 clips that secure the lower front fascia to the front fascia, and then remove the lower front fascia.
- Use a Torx T50 to remove the cover from the LH side of the condenser (torque 4 Nm).

Remove the snap ring from the condenser. Discard the snap ring.
WarningPlease ensure to wear the Face Shield throughout the entire process to prevent foreign objects from flying out.

Use the small slide hammer to pull out the inner plug. Discard the inner
plug.

- Remove the desiccant bag.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
CAUTION
Install a new
desiccant bag and a new plug immediately to prevent ingress of dirt and
moisture.
CAUTION
Do not reuse the
plug, O-ring, or snap ring.
- Begin the A/C recharge refrigerant procedure before installing the components that were removed for access.
