Harness - Main Front (Remove & Replace)

Correction code 17100702

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Install a steering wheel holder.
  4. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the HEPA filter housing and the HEPA filter duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter (Remove and Replace)
  6. Start the A/C refrigerant recovery procedure. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the cowl screen from windshield. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace)
  9. Allow 15 minutes for the A/C refrigerant recovery procedure to finish.
  10. Disconnect the blue and red A/C machine hoses from the vehicle.
  11. Power down the vehicle using the MCU.
  12. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  13. Remove the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the LH and RH wheelhouse liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  16. Remove the HV battery assembly. See HV Battery (AWD) (Remove and Install).
  17. Disconnect the 12V logic connector from the RH side of the DC/DC converter.
  18. Disconnect the low voltage connector from battery coolant pump 1.
  19. Disconnect the low voltage connector from battery coolant pump 2.
  20. Release the fir tree clip that mounts the battery pump 1 pigtail to the subframe.
  21. Disconnect the power steering logic connectors (x2).
  22. Disconnect the ESP ECU connector.
  23. Disconnect the LH front pressure sensor.
  24. Disconnect the power and ground connectors from the power steering ECU.
  25. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  26. Disconnect the 12V connector from the battery chiller EXV valve.
  27. Release the fir tree clip that mounts the EXV chiller harness to the frame.
  28. Disconnect the connectors (3x) from the LH acceleration sensor, the washer fluid pump and the washer fluid level sensor.
  29. Disconnect the connectors (2x) from the LH horn.
  30. Disconnect the LH front Air suspension module, and then loosen the harness edge clip.
  31. Disconnect the LH headlamp connector.
  32. Pull the LH front harness upward.
  33. Remove the 12V Auxiliary battery. Refer to Battery - Auxiliary - 12V (Remove and Replace).
  34. Remove wiper motor assembly. See Wiper Module (LHD) (Remove and Replace)or Wiper Module (RHD) (Remove and Replace)
  35. Remove the push clips (x2) that attach the cowl screen support, and then remove the cowl screen support.
  36. Release the push clips (x2) that attach the fuse box harness to the wiper mount bracket and the crossmember.

  37. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the wiper mount bracket to the crossmember (torque 20 Nm).
  38. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the wiper mount bracket to the studs on the bulkhead (torque 20 Nm).
  39. Release the clips (x2) that attach the LH front air suspension line to the air suspension reservoir brackets.
  40. Release the nuts (x4) that attach the air suspension reservoir (torque 6 Nm) to the brackets, and then carefully maneuver the air suspension reservoir away from the bulkhead.
  41. Remove the cap from the coolant reservoir, and then siphon the coolant from the reservoir into a container.
  42. Disconnect the coolant fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  43. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the coolant reservoir to the front crossmember (torque 6 Nm).
  44. Release the 12V harness clip from the coolant reservoir.
  45. Clamp both coolant hoses from the reservoir, and then move the reservoir off to the side.
  46. Disconnect the LH front wheel speed sensor.
  47. Remove the bolts (x2) that connect the ground cables to the LH front strut tower (torque 12 Nm) and then remove the ground cables.
  48. Remove the fuse box. See Fuse Box - Underhood (Remove and Replace)
  49. Loosen the nyloc nut that connects the ground cable to the intelligent battery sensor (torque 2,5 Nm), and then remove the ground cable.
  50. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor.
  51. Disconnect the connectors (x2) from the electromechanical brake booster.
  52. Release the fir tree clips (x5) that attach the harness to the front upper post and lower upper post.
  53. Disconnect the AC low pressure sensor connector and the AC compressor logic connector, and then loosen the bolt (torque 1.8 Nm) that attaches the ground connector to the AC compressor.
  54. Disconnect the center acceleration sensor.
  55. Disconnect the Logic connector from the FDU harness.
  56. Disconnect the connectors (x4) from the RH front air suspension module and the Air suspension compressor.
  57. Disconnect the RH front acceleration sensor.
  58. Release the fir tree clip and the connector clip that attaches the harness to the RH front wheel arch area.
  59. Disconnect the connectors (x4) from the RH front horn and the front center harness.
  60. Loosen the front antenna, and then release the cable from the wiring clips (x2)
  61. Release the fir tree clips (x2) and remove the zip tie, and then release the harness from the RH front wheel arch area.
  62. Disconnect the RH front headlamp.
  63. Pull the RH front harness upward.
  64. Release the fir tree clip, and then disconnect the RH front wheel speed sensor
  65. Loosen the bolts (x3) that connect the front ground cables to the RH front strut tower (torque 12 Nm), and then remove the ground cables.
  66. Disconnect the Chiller valve block.
  67. Remove the edge clips (x2) that attach the active shutter harness to the active shutter assembly.
  68. Disconnect the active shutter and move the harness aside.
  69. Release the retaining clips (x2), and then remove the active shutter assembly.
  70. Clamp the hoses (x2) on the LH and RH sides of the radiator.
  71. Put a coolant drain container under the LH front corner of the vehicle.
  72. Loosen the hose clamp of the radiator outlet hose on the LH side of the radiator, and then remove the radiator outlet hose.
  73. Loosen the hose clamp of the front drive unit outlet hose on the RH side of the radiator, and then remove the front drive unit outlet hose.
  74. Remove fir tree clip that attaches the cooling fan harness to the cooling fan shroud.
  75. Disconnect the cooling fan.
  76. Loosen the bolts (x2) that attach the cooling fan shroud to the support beam (torque 12 Nm).
  77. Remove the upper nuts (x2, torque 10 Nm) and the lower nuts (x2, torque 20 Nm) that attach the high and low pressure pipes to the condenser

    Install new O-rings
  78. Lift the rear of the cooling fan module and slide the assembly away from the front end module to remove the cooling fan module from the vehicle.
  79. Remove the coolant drain container from under the front of the vehicle.
  80. Remove the fir tree clip that attaches the cowl drain hose to the 4-way valve.
  81. Remove the connectors (x2) from the 3-way valve and the 4-way valve.
  82. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the 3-way valve and 4-way valve.
  83. Remove the E-Fuse module. See E-Fuse Module (Remove and Replace).
  84. Release the 12V harness clips (x4) from the front junction box and the air suspension ECU enclosure.
  85. Disconnect the logic connector from the front junction box.
  86. Open the air suspension ECU enclosure (torque 1.2 Nm).

  87. Loosen the nuts (x3, torque 4.5 Nm), and then pull the air suspension enclosure aside.
  88. Loosen the connectors from the air suspension ECU (x10) and then release the harness from the ECU enclosure.
  89. Disconnect the battery heater connector from the battery heater bracket, and then remove the fir tree clip that attaches the battery heater connector to the battery bracket.
  90. Disconnect the powertrain coolant pump 1.

  91. Disconnect the powertrain coolant pump 2.

  92. Remove the screw that secures the front of the LH rocker panel molding (torque 3 Nm).
  93. Open the covers (x5) on the bottom of the rocker panel molding to expose the hidden push clips.
  94. Remove the push clips (x6) that attach the rocker panel molding to the bottom of the rocker panel.

  95. Release the clips (x14) that secure the rocker panel molding to the rocker panel carrier.

  96. Remove the rocker panel molding from the vehicle.
  97. Carefully lift and remove the LH LF antenna, and then move the harness up the fender.
  98. Repeat steps 92 to 97 to remove the RH rocker panel and RH LF antenna.
  99. Remove the RH floor mat.
  100. Remove RH side footwell cover. See Assembly - Cover - Footwell - Passenger's (Remove and Replace)
  101. Remove the RH rear door sill trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)
  102. Remove the RH front door sill trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)
  103. Remove the RH instrument panel side cover. See Assembly - Instrument Panel Side Cover - LH (Remove and Replace).
  104. Remove the RH front lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace)
  105. Release the fir tree clip that attaches the RH front rear carpet to the floor, and then fold the carpet out of the way.
  106. Loosen the fan clips (x2) and fir tree clips (x2) that attach the foam support to the floor, and then remove the foam floor support.
  107. Disconnect the connectors (x5) of the main front body harness from the RH side of the cabin fusebox bracket.
  108. Loosen the nut (torque 3 Nm) that attaches the main front body harness to the RH side of the cabin fusebox bracket.
  109. Remove the LH front floor mat.
  110. Remove the LH center console closeout extension. See Closeout Extension - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace)
  111. Loosen the nut (torque 3Nm) and disconnect the connector of the main front body harness from the LH side of the cabin fusebox bracket.
  112. Push the firewall grommet out and slide the main front body harness out of the interior of the car.
  113. Pull out the main front body harness from behind the strut tower, and then remove the harness from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
  1. Reconnect and install all components. Perform the following steps before installation of the HEPA filter and housing, the underhood storage unit and underhood aprons.
  2. Fill the coolant reservoir to the "NOM" line with G-48 coolant.
  3. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  4. Unlock the gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
  5. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "Coolant air purge" into the search field, click PROC_THC_X_COOLANT-AIR-PURGEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Coolant Air Purge, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  6. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  7. Top off the coolant reservoir to the "NOM"line.
  8. Install coolant reservoir cap.
  9. Calibrate the falcon doors using the MCU.
