Retractor - Seatbelt - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Note
In the event of an airbag or seat belt tensioner deployment, certain airbag and seat belt components must be replaced, and other components must be inspected for damage. Refer to SRS Inspection and Component Replacement for a specific list of items that must be inspected and replaced.

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
  3. Remove the upper B-pillar trim panel (refer to procedure).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the seatbelt reel.
  5. Remove the bolt that secures the seatbelt reel to the body (torque 40 Nm).
  6. Remove the screws (x2) that secure the seatbelt webbing guide to the B-pillar (torque 2.4 Nm).
  7. Remove the nut that secures the upper seatbelt mount to the body of the vehicle (torque 25 Nm).
  8. Remove the seatbelt assembly from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Replace any broken clips.

Replace all patchbolt(s).
If the component was replaced due to an internal failure:
  1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
  3. In Toolbox 3, click Dashboards > Service Tools > DTCs, and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
  4. Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
  5. Power cycle the vehicle.
  6. Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
  7. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
