Strut - Rear Door - Secondary - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal
- Apply protective tape onto the racetrack trim to prevent damage.

Remove the upper door trim bracket:
- Front: (refer to procedure)
- Rear: (refer to procedure)

Support the rear door.
WarningMake sure that the door is supported in the fully up position before continuing. Either have an assistant manually support the full weight of the door or use a pole jack.

Release both struts from the body, and rotate the struts outwards.
WarningThe door is now able to be lifted higher. Keep the door in the fully up position.
- Release the strut to be replaced from the door.
- Disconnect the secondary strut harness from the strut.
- Release the clips that secure the harness to the body.
- Remove the strut from the vehicle.
Warning
Continue to support the door in the fully up position.
Installation

Bring the new strut to the vehicle.
NoteInitially, the new strut is longer than the other strut.
- Fasten the clips that secure the secondary strut harness to the body.
- Connect the secondary strut harness to the new strut.
- Install the new strut to the door.
- Manually raise or lower the door so as to attach the new strut to the body.
- Manually raise or lower the door so as to attach the other strut to the body.

Make sure that the struts support the weight of the door in the up position.
NoteIf the rear door requires adjustment, refer to TN-16-11-002, "Adjusting the Rear Doors (Falcon Wing Doors) on Model X" for instructions.

Install the upper door trim bracket:
- Front: (refer to procedure)
- Rear: (refer to procedure)
- Remove the protective tape from the racetrack trim.
- Touch and hold the CALIBRATE button on the Model X touchscreen until the rear doors have been fully calibrated, close completely, and the message "CALIBRATION COMPLETE" is displayed.
