  1. Open the LH front and LH rear doors
  2. Open hood

  3. Move LH front seat forward
  4. Remove LH front seat rear fasteners

    2x patch bolts, T45P, 34 Nm, Discard after removal, Use Torchless heat induction tool to help remove bolts if necessary
  5. Move LH front seat backward
  6. Remove LH front seat front fasteners

  7. Adjust the position of the LH seat for easy removal

  8. Power down vehicle using MCU

  9. Remove underhood aprons

  10. Remove frunk carpet

  12. Remove HEPA filter

  13. Disconnect 12V negative terminal and First Responder Loop

  14. Disconnect LH front seat harness

  16. Use a pick to disengage the outboard headrest retaining spring

  20. Remove the seat back shell base assembly from seat back frame

    6x clips, Start at the top of the seat and pull the shell away from the frame, When the side clips are free, pull the bottom and carefully roll the bottom tabs out of the slots, If pulled straight out, the clips on the seat back can break off
  21. Remove the lower flap covering the outboard corner of the seat back frame

    Pull the trim straight up, off of the retaining tabs to release
  22. Remove the upper flap covering the outboard corner of the seat back frame

  23. Remove the lower flap covering the inboard corner of the seat back frame

  24. Remove the upper flap covering the inboard corner of the seat back frame

  25. Remove clips securing the seat upholstery to the seat back frame

    7x clips, To release, rotate the clips off of the frame from the inside out, Seventh clip is located tucked beneath top center upholstery clip
  26. Pull the seat upholstery away from the air bag to gain access to the air bag electrical connector
  27. Disconnect LH front seat air bag

    1x connector, Pull black collar down to release connector
  28. Remove the bolt that attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat assembly.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    The bolt is located below the lumbar ECU. Removing this bolt allows ease of access for the following step.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  29. Remove nuts securing 1st row side air bag to seat back frame

    2x nyloc nuts, 10mm, 5.4 Nm, Discard after removal
  30. Pull the airbag and fasteners away from the seat frame

    CAUTION
    Do not remove the airbag from the airbag chute.
  31. Rotate the seat to gain access to the underside of the seat

    Place fender cover to protect seat cushion from damage
  32. Remove zip tie securing harnesses to spring mat
  33. Disconnect seat heat pad connector

    1x connector, 1x clip, Remove connector from spring mat clip
  34. Remove the seat back harness connector from the seat bottom

    1x connector, 1x fir tree clip
  35. Return seat to upright position
  36. Remove the seat back trim and foam assembly from the seat back frame.

    Start by pulling the bottom of the seat trim away from the seat frame, ensure the heater harness and the trim is clear of the frame, Lift straight up on the sides of the trim, moving the trim from side to side, to free it from the frame
  37. Slide the airbag chute with the airbag still inside through the seatback foam, and then carefully remove the airbag from the airbag chute.

    Make sure that the driver side airbag mounting studs do not catch in the holes of the airbag chute.

    CAUTION
    Handle the airbag with extreme care when removing it from the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.
  38. Remove upholstery from seat back cushion

    Upholstery held on to cushion by velcro, Gently pull upholstery inch by inch from seat back starting lower seat back working your way up to upper seat back, Velcro can tear off cushion
  39. Install upholstery to the seat back rest cushion

    Start at the upper seat back working your down to lower seat back, Massage Velcro in as you go
  40. Install the driver side airbag into the airbag chute, and then slide the airbag chute with the airbag inside through the slot in the seat back foam.

    Make sure that the driver side airbag mounting studs extend out of the holes of the chute.

    Handle the airbag with extreme care when installing it into the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.

  41. Install seat back cushion to seat back frame

    Start by sliding the foam trim straight onto the seat back frame, Ensure the posts for the headrests engage the seat back foam, Ensure the heater harness and lower trim that engages the frame are pushed through to the back side of the frame, Ensure that both sides of the seat back cushion overlap the seat back frame
  42. Install the airbag studs into the seatback frame

    The studs should line up with the two round holes, the elongated hole is not used for this part
  43. Install nuts securing 1st row side airbag to seat back frame

    Do not use impact tools to tighten the nuts
  44. Install the bolt that attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat assembly.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  57. Route LH sensor harnesses underneath toe kick strap
  58. Zip-tie both LH seat back heater and sensor harnesses onto spring mat

  59. Secure the toe kick straps to both sides of the interior seat base
