Warning
When not in use,
store the cleaning products in a cabinet designed for flammable materials.

Procedure
Warning
Read the safety information provided with the evaporator
cleaning product before beginning this procedure.
Warning
Wear safety glasses and nitrile chemical resistant gloves and
work in a well-ventilated area when using the evaporator cleaning
product.
- Place a coolant drain container or absorbent material under the front of the vehicle.
- Turn off A/C, set the cabin air to HI temperature, maximum blower speed and outside air intake, and then let the blower run for 8 minutes.
- Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the passenger side floor air duct.
-
Set the HVAC temperature to LO and wait 10 seconds,
until the flaps between the evaporator and PTC heater are closed.
NoteThis step is required to make sure that the evaporator flush fluid will not enter the PTC compartment.
- Remove the front HVAC blower motor. See Blower Motor - Front HVAC (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the cabin air filter. See Filter - Cabin (Remove and Replace).
-
Disconnect the FET
connector.
-
Remove the screws (x2) that
attach the FET to the HVAC assembly (torque 1 Nm), and then remove the FET
from the HVAC assembly.
- Pour 1 liter of Tunap 994 hygienic cleaner into the tank of the pressure cup spray gun, and then connect shop air to the spray gun.
-
Slightly bend the probe of the pressure cup spray gun:
- Measure 20 cm from the beginning of the probe.
- Bend the probe approximately 15 degrees towards the spray holes.
-
Insert the probe into the
HVAC filter housing, and then spray all of the cleaning solution onto the
evaporator.
NoteThe spray holes in the probe should face to the rear of the vehicle, towards the evaporator.NoteBe sure to coat the entire evaporator with the cleaning solution.
-
Let the cleaning solution
sit on the evaporator for 30 minutes.
NoteCheck under the vehicle and adjust the coolant drain container/absorbent material as necessary.
- Install a new cabin air filter. See Filter - Cabin (Remove and Replace).
- Install other parts that were removed in the reverse order of removal.
-
Once the evaporator cleaning
fluid has sat long enough (30 minutes), turn on A/C, set the
cabin air to LO temperature, maximum blower speed and outside air
intake.
NoteThe cleaning foam will exit through the HVAC drain. Continue to the next step once clean water is observed exiting the HVAC drain.
- Remove the coolant drain container/absorbent material from under the vehicle.
