This procedure is for vehicles built through October 16, 2016.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

CAUTION
Replace all patchbolt(s).
  1. Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  2. Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  3. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.
  4. Using Toolbox 3:
    1. Select the Actions tab and search for "EPAS Post Replacement"
    2. Select the ODIN routine PROC_EPAS_X_POST-REPLACEMENTSearch for routine in ToolboxEPAS Post Replacement RoutineChassis / Steering - Post Steering Rack Replacement, and then click the link of the routine.
    3. Click RUN, and allow the routine to complete.
  5. Perform a Lock To Lock-Angle test. See Lock To Lock-Angle Test.
  6. Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  7. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
