Perform A/C hose flush
NoteTouch time only. No overlap from this since the machine is disconnected from the vehicle.

Raise and support vehicle
NoteSet air suspension to Jack Mode, Via Controls > Service > Jack Mode, Raise lift until arms contact the lift points

Install steering wheel holder
NoteEnsure proper placement of the steering wheel

Open hood
NoteVia center display > Controls > Front Trunk

Remove underhood aprons
Note4x aprons, LH and RH aprons have 1x clip each

Remove dust caps from vehicle’s high-side and low-side service ports

Connect hoses to vehicle and perform A/C recovery
Note(Touch time only) Ensure quick connects are fully engaged, turn connector dials clockwise to fully connect to A/C service ports

Remove frunk carpet

Remove A/C compressor from the vehicle

Remove the upper fastener securing the LH side isolator mount to the FDU

Lower vehicle to comfortable working height
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

Remove the edge clips securing the active shutter harness to the active shutter assembly

Disconnect the active shutter and move the harness aside

Position coolant drain container under the LH front corner of the vehicle to catch vehicle coolant

Remove the radiator outlet hose from the LH side of the radiator

Remove clip securing cooling fan harness to cooling fan shroud

Remove the cooling fan module from the vehicle

Position the thermal beam away from the FDU

Remove the front upper fastener securing the RH FDU mount to the body

Disconnect battery pump 1

Remove the fir tree clip securing the battery pump 1 pigtail to the subframe

Remove the fir tree clips securing the wiring harness to the subframe

Remove the edge clip securing the windshield cowl drain to the subframe

Disconnect the chiller to battery pump 1 hose

Disconnect the hose from the chiller to battery coolant pump 1 and plug the coolant pump

Disconnect the hose from the battery coolant heater to coolant pump 2 at the rear of the subframe and plug the ends
Note1x hose clamp, The coolant drain container may need to be moved to properly catch the residual coolant

Remove coolant drain container from under the front of the vehicle

Position the powertrain table with the Model S/Model X subframe adapter installed under the front of the vehicle
-
Connect shop air supply to powertrain table
-
Raise the powertrain table and subframe fixture into position
NoteEnsure the pins are installed into the correct positions on the fixture, Ensure the pins engage the subframe so it is properly supported
-
Remove the fastener connecting the LH side condenser bracket to the front subframe
Note1x bolt, 13mm, 20 Nm

Remove the fastener connecting the RH side condenser bracket to the front subframe
Note1x bolt, 13mm, 20 Nm

Remove the fastener connecting the LH stabar mount to the body through the subframe

Remove the fastener connecting the RH stabar mount to the body through the subframe

Remove the LH rear bolt securing the front subframe to the body

Slowly lower the front subframe to access the power and ground connections for the steering rack and disconnect the power and ground connectors
Note2x electrical connectors, 2 stage locking connectors, Disengage the red locking tab before disconnecting, The powertrain table may need to be adjusted as the subframe is being lowered

Lower the front subframe completely, and move the assembly from under the vehicle
NoteEnsure the powertrain lift is clear of the vehicle, Do not work on the subframe assembly under the vehicle

Remove axle nut and washer securing LH drive axle to hub assembly
Note1x nut, 32mm, 245 Nm, 1x washer, Discard washer after removal, Nut can be reused
-
Install the hub puller onto the LH front brake rotor
Note5x lug nuts, 21mm, Hand tight
-
Use hub puller to free LH halfshaft from hub splines

Remove hub puller from LH hub assembly

Install the axle removal tool around the inner joint of the LH front half shaft
NoteUse a wire tie to hold the axle removal tool in place

Remove the LH front axle from the drive unit and remove from the vehicle

Remove axle nut and washer securing RH drive axle to hub assembly
Note1x nut, 32mm, 245 Nm, 1x washer, Discard washer after removal, nut can be reused

Setup hub puller onto RH hub assembly
Note5x lug nuts, 21mm, Hand tight

Use hub puller to free RH halfshaft from hub splines

Remove hub puller from RH hub assembly

Remove RH front halfshaft from drive unit and remove from vehicle
NotePosition cable around axle

Release RH axle from jackshaft and remove from vehicle
Note1x U-bolt, 2x nuts, 10mm, Torque hand-tight, Wrap cable around inner joint, then tighten with U-bolt, Use slide hammer with cable eyelets to release, To avoid damage to the halfshaft boots, exercise caution when removing

Disconnect the brake lines on the ABS modulator from the master cylinder and move aside

Position coolant drain container under the front of the vehicle to catch vehicle coolant
-
Disconnect the lower coolant hose from the FDU heat exchanger and plug both the heat exchanger

Disconnect the inverter outlet coolant hose and plug the inverter

Remove coolant drain container from under the front of the vehicle

Remove the clip securing the FDU inlet hose to the FDU mount

Disconnect the FDU HV connector
Note1x clip, Release locking tab and rotate the release lever up to disengage the connector, Do not force the release lever up, Ensure the alignment tabs on the FDU header are not damaged

Position the FDU stand and underhoist stand under the vehicle

Support the weight of the FDU
NoteEnsure the FDU adapter engages the recesses in the FDU and the FDU is strapped to the motor stand adapter to prevent movement
-
Remove the bolts securing the clevis mount to the body
Note2x bolts, E14, 65 Nm

Remove the bolts securing the clevis mount to the isolator mount
Note2x bolts, E14, 92 Nm

Remove the bolts securing the isolator mount to the FDU and remove the isolator mount from the FDU
Note2x bolts, E14, 38 Nm

Remove the rear lower bolt securing the RH FDU mount to the body

Remove the FDU from the vehicle
NoteThe FDU will need to be manipulated in such a way to clear the front 4 tube break bundle, AC suction line and body, Be extremely cautious to avoid damage to surrounding components.-Tilt front of unit upward to clear saddle-Slightly raise entire unit saddle is cleared-Clear AC pipes-Tilt front of unit downward to clear AC pipe with rear mount cleared from saddle-Turn entire unit to the RH front of vehicle-Slowly drop entire unit, while holding the turned position-Recommend assistance to guide rear side of unit to avoid contact of break pipes-Once all points are clear, fully lower unit

Remove bushing carrier assembly from FDU
Note4x bolts, EP20, 60 Nm +50 degrees
Install

Secure bushing carrier assembly to FDU
Note4x bolts, EP20, 60 Nm +50 degrees, Torque sequence - Bottom right, top left, bottom left, top right

Install the FDU into the vehicle
NoteThe FDU will need to be manipulated in such a way to clear the front 4 tube break bundle, AC suction line and body, Be extremely cautious to avoid damage to surrounding components.

Install the rear lower bolt securing the RH FDU mount to the body
Note1x bolt, E20, 120 Nm

Position the isolator mount in position and install the bolts securing the isolator mount to the FDU
Note2x bolts, E14, 38 Nm
-
Position the clevis mount to the isolator mount and install the bolts securing the clevis mount to the isolator mount
Note2x bolts, E14, 92 Nm
-
Install the bolts securing the clevis mount to the body
Note2x bolts, E14, 65 Nm, Ensure the mount is positioned all the way forward before torquing, Allowing the mount to be installed all the way rearward will result in NVH issues

Connect the FDU HV connector
Note1x clip, Apply slight pressure to the connector as the lever is rotated into position, Move the lever to the closed position slowly and ensure the lever teeth and manifold teeth are properly meshed, There should be a very small gap between the manifold and the connector when fully seated
-
Install the clip securing the FDU inlet hose to the FDU mount
Note1x fir tree clip

Lower the FDU stand and underhoist stand away from the FDU

Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

Support the weight of the FDU
NoteEnsure the FDU adapter engages the recesses in the FDU

Lift the FDU until the upper fastener securing the RH FDU mount to the body can be installed
-
Install the front upper fastener securing the RH FDU mount to the body

Install the fastener securing the FDU HV harness connector to the FDU

Raise vehicle fully and lower onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side. Ensure the vehicle is stable by rocking the vehicle on the lift immediately after the tires have left the ground. Always lower the lift arms onto the locks after raising the vehicle

Lower the FDU stand and underhoist stand away from the vehicle

Connect the inverter outlet coolant hose

Connect the lower coolant hose to the FDU heat exchanger

Install RH halfshaft into hub and bearing assembly with new lock washer and nut hand tight
Note1x nut, 1x washer, 32mm, 245 Nm, Torque at later step, Use the nut without the washer to pull the shaft through hub, Then remove nut and install new washer and nut. Do not use power tools, The risk of stripping the threads is very high.

Install the LH front axle into the front drive unit
NotePosition C-clip opening at the bottom of axle to ease installation, Ensure the axle is fully seated into the drive unit, Straighten axle and apply pressure to opposite end until an audible click is heard when the C-Clip is fully engaged, If an audible click is not heard adjust shaft position and reinstall. For a visual indicator, inspect axle seal clamp is inline with base of FDU LH side mount bolt.

Position the subframe assembly under the vehicle for installation

Slowly lift the front subframe to access the power and ground connections for the steering rack and connect the electrical connections

Install the fastener connecting the RH side condenser bracket to the front subframe

Lower the powertrain table and remove it from under the vehicle

Disconnect shop air supply from the powertrain table

Position coolant drain container under the LH front corner of the vehicle to catch vehicle coolant

Remove the plugs and connect the hose from the battery coolant heater to coolant pump 2 at the rear of the subframe

Remove the plugs and connect the hose from the chiller to battery coolant pump 1

Install the fir tree clip securing the battery pump 1 pigtail to the subframe

Remove coolant drain container from under the LH front of the vehicle

Move the RH front fore link into the subframe and install the fastener
Note1x bolt, 21mm, 1x nut, 22mm, 130 Nm, Leave fastener hand tight, will be torqued during alignment, Properly align the paint marks

Move the RH front lower aft link into position and install the fastener
Note1x bolt, 21mm, 1x nut, 22mm, 130 Nm, Leave fastener hand tight, Will be torque during alignment, Ensure the bolt is installed with the bolt head facing the front of the vehicle

Move the LH front fore link into the subframe and install the fastener
Note1x bolt, 21mm, 1x nut, 22mm, 130 Nm, Leave fastener hand tight, will be torqued during alignment, Properly align the paint marks

Move the LH front lower aft link into position and install the fastener
Note1x bolt, 21mm, 1x nut, 22mm, 130 Nm, Leave fastener hand tight, Will be torque during alignment, Ensure the bolt is installed with the bolt head facing the front of the vehicle

Install nut and bolt securing LH front air spring module to front lower aft link

NoteFor EMEA FUCA Ride Height Tool (1098012-E2-B): Clean debris in the shock tower, and then align the tool profile with the shock tower profile.

NoteAfter vehicle has been put into "Service Mode", hold down the brake pedal, while holding down break pedal simultaneously hold the turn signal stalk fully up for at least 10 seconds, "GTW UNLOCKING" should pop up on the instrument cluster right below the VIN during these 10 seconds, once gateway is unlocked "GTW UNLOCKED 899" will be displayed on the instrument cluster underneath the VIN, the gateway will remain unlocked for 15 minutes, follow steps on Toolbox article https://toolbox.teslamotors.com/articles/5582900 for any additional information

Remove cubby under MCU and connect laptop to vehicle with a tethered Ethernet connection via Toolbox 3

Remove the bleeder cover from LH rear caliper

Install the fluid catching bottle to LH rear caliper bleeder valve and loosen the valve
NoteLet the brake fluid drain for about 10 seconds or so before starting Toolbox bleeding routine

Open the LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve then Click the play button next to PROC_ESP_FRONT-R-REAR-L-BRAKE-BLEEDvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
- Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Bleed FR-RL
- Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Bleed FR-RL
Note1x bleeding valve, 10mm, 18 Nm -
Remove the fluid catching bottle, Torque LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve and install cover
Note1x bleeding valve, 10mm, 18 Nm, 1x cover

Release pressure and remove brake pressure bleed adapter from vehicle

Check fluid level
NoteTop off if needed

Install brake reservoir cap
Note1x cap
-
Pump the brake pedal few times to ensure the pedal feels normal
- Select "Actions" tab and search for ‘"Stiffness"
-
Select TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-PRESSURE-BURNISHEDvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Stiffness Test, click "Run", and allow
routine to complete
NoteSelect "Submit" without additional input when prompted, Select "X" at top right of window to close once complete

Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and install cubby under the MCU
Note1x connector, 2x clips

Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

Install LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Start lug nuts by hand before using power tool

Install RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Thread nuts on by hand

Install RH rear wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Install LH rear wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Lower vehicle until tires are touching ground
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

Torque RH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
-
Install RH front lug nut covers
Note5x covers

Torque RH front axle nut
Note1x nut, 32mm, 245 Nm
-
Install RH front wheel center cap
Note1x cap, Verify emblem is aligned with valve stem

Torque LH front wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm

Install LH front lug nut covers
Note5x covers
-
Torque LH front axle nut
Note1x nut, 32mm, 245 Nm

Install LH front wheel center cap
Note1x cap, Verify emblem is aligned with valve stem

Torque RH rear wheel
Note5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm

Install RH rear lug nut covers

Torque LH rear wheel

Install LH rear lug nut covers

Install HEPA filter housing

Install underhood storage unit
Note10x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 10x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm

Install frunk carpet
Note2x connectors

Inject oil into the system
NoteRefill with the amount removed during recovery

Perform A/C refrigerant refill
NoteRun time, per fluid capacity spec

Remove A/C lines from vehicle
NotePress clear lines once lines have been removed

Install dust caps onto vehicle high and low side service ports
Note2x threaded caps

Test A/C functions in vehicle to ensure cabin cooling functions as designed

Perform A/C hose flush
NoteTouch time only. No overlap from this since the machine is disconnected from the vehicle.

Install under hood aprons

Close hood

Calibrate falcon doors via UI
NoteVia Controls > Calibrate, Required after 12V and FRL disconnect

Remove the steering wheel holder from the vehicle
-
Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower rack arms fully and move them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode", Via Controls > Service > Jack Mode

Close LH front door
