Harness - Front Drive Unit (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 17103302

Removal

  1. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct, see Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the underhood storage unit, see Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  3. Disconnect 12V power, see Disconnect 12V Power.
  4. Remove the 12V battery bracket beam, see 12V Battery Bracket Beam (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the coolant reservoir to the shock tower cross member (torque 6 Nm).
  6. Disconnect the coolant reservoir level sensor connector.
  7. Shift the coolant reservoir out of the way to gain access to the components behind.
  8. Disconnect the FDU resolver connector.
  9. Release the fir tree clip from the FDU enclosure.
  10. Disconnect the front drive unit oil pump connector.
  11. Release the fir tree clip from the oil chiller.
  12. Release the fir tree clips (x2) located next to the A/C compressor.
  13. Release the fir tree clips located on top of the drive unit.

  14. Disconnect the FDU inverter connector.
  15. Remove the FDU inverter connector latching mechanism from the connector.
  16. Release the fir tree clip next to FDU inverter connector.
  17. Remove the edge clip securing the FDU logic harness to the connector bracket.
  18. Disconnect the FDU logic connector and set the harness aside.
  19. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the FDU harness bracket (torque 5 Nm + 20 deg.).
  20. Remove the FDU harness from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
