1. Open RH front door
2. Move RH front seat backward

   

3. Open hood
   Note

   Via Controls > Front Trunk

   

   

4. Remove rear underhood apron
   Note

   8x clips

   

   

5. Remove LH underhood apron
   Note

   9x clips

   

   

6. Remove RH underhood apron
   Note

   9x clips

   

   

7. Release drainage hoses from HEPA filter inlet duct
   Note

   2x hoses

   

   

8. Remove clips securing HEPA filter inlet duct to cowl panel
   Note

   3x push clips

   

9. Remove HEPA filter inlet duct
   Note

   2x clips on HEPA filter

   

   

10. Remove HEPA filter outlet duct from vehicle
    Note

    Lift up, pull towards front of vehicle, then rotate clockwise

    

    

11. Power off vehicle via UI
    Note

    Via Controls > Safety > Power Off

    

    

12. Disconnect 12V negative terminal and First Responder Loop
    Note

    1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, 1x connector, Wait at least 2 minutes before disconnecting modules or HV components

    

13. Remove RH IP side trim
    Note

    1x connector

    

14. Remove RH lower IP trim
    Note

    9x ubell clips

    

15. Remove RH front floor mat

    

16. Release the front section of the RH center console wrapped rim
    Note

    Only necessary to release the front section to remove the center console closeout extension

    

    

17. Remove RH center console closeout extension
    Note

    8x clips

    

18. Remove driver’s footwell cover
    Note

    2x blue push clips, 1x connector, May need to press accelerator pedal down for more clearance

    

    

19. Remove accelerator pedal
    Note

    2x nyloc nuts, 10mm, 9 Nm, 1x connector, Release red locking tab, Discard nuts after removal

    

    

20. Remove OBDII connector from tuner bracket
    Note

    2x screws, T20, 4 Nm

    

21. Disconnect premium amplifier if equipped
    Note

    1x connector, Applies only to vehicle equipped with premium audio

    

    

22. Release clips securing steering gap hider to IC bezel
    Note

    2x clips

    

23. Remove screws securing airbag to steering wheel
    Note

    2x screws, T25, 7 Nm, The screws will remain inside the steering wheel, If required rotate the steering wheel to gain access to screws, Afterwards return steering wheel to straight and center position

    

    

24. Carefully release the driver's airbag from the steering wheel assembly
    Note

    3x connectors, disconnect the airbag and steering wheel controls

    

25. Remove bolt that secures the steering wheel to the column
    Note

    1x patch bolt, 10mm allen, 80 Nm, Discard after removal

    

26. Position the wheels straight ahead and mark the steering wheel relative position to the column

    

27. Remove steering wheel

    

28. Tape the clockspring cassette to prevent rotation
    Note

    Do not rotate the clockspring

    

29. Rock SCCM back and forth to release from column

    

30. Release harness connector from SCCM and remove SCCM
    Note

    1x connector, Remove black locking tab then depress connector release tab to release connector, Locking tab is one time use discard after removal

    

31. Disconnect steering column motor connectors
    Note

    2x connectors

    

32. Mark the steering column relative position to the lower shaft joint

    

33. Remove bolt securing lower shaft to steering column
    Note

    1x bolt, 13mm, 30 Nm

    

34. Release steering column from lower shaft
    Note

    Slide joint down lower shaft

    

35. Remove fasteners securing steering column to cross car beam
    Note

    2x bolts, 13mm, 17 Nm, 2x nuts, 13mm, 30 Nm

    

    

36. Remove steering column from vehicle

    

37. Disconnect the brake switch connector
    Note

    1x connector

    

38. Remove and discard the brake light switch from the brake pedal assembly
    Note

    Rotate switch clockwise and pull straight out to remove, The brake light switch is a one time use component

    

    

39. Remove the spring clip from the brake pedal clevis pin
    Note

    1x spring clip

    

40. Remove the brake pedal clevis pin
    Note

    Depress the brake pedal for clearance

    

41. Remove and discard the fasteners securing the brake pedal to the brake booster
    Note

    4x nyloc nuts, 13mm, 23 Nm, Discard after removal

    

42. Remove the fasteners securing the brake pedal to the reinforcement panel on the bulkhead
    Note

    2x bolts, 13mm, 23 Nm

    

43. Release harness clip from brake pedal bracket
    Note

    1x clip

    

44. Remove the brake pedal from below the cross car beam
    Note

    Rotate the pedal and bracket assembly at different angles to clear the cross car beam and master cylinder push rod, Take care not to damage the boot around the push rod during removal

    

45. Release the main harness clip from the bulkhead and move harness away from the tuner
    Note

    2x clips

    

46. Release the front harness edge clip from the body and move harness away from the tuner
    Note

    1x edge clip

    

    

47. Remove bolts securing tuner bracket
    Note

    3x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm

    

    

    

    

48. Disconnect tuner and move harness for clearance
    Note

    2x connectors, 1x fir tree clip

    

49. Remove the amp/tuner bracket assembly out through the bottom of IP carrier
    Note

    Rotate tuner at different angles to ease removal

    

50. Remove tuner from bracket
    Note

    4x patch bolts, T25, 1 Nm, Make note of orientation in bracket, Discard after removal

    

51. Install new tuner onto bracket
    Note

    4x patch bolts, T25, 1 Nm, Install new patch bolts
52. Place the amp/tuner bracket assembly back into IP for installation
    Note

    Rotate tuner at different angles to ease installation

    

53. Make connections at tuner
    Note

    2x electrical connections, 1x fir tree clip, Existing vehicle harness at RH footwell area should have a brown connector for DAB antennae

    

54. Install bolts securing tuner bracket
    Note

    3x bolts, 10mm, 6Nm

    

    

    

55. Re-position the front harness and secure edge clip to body
    Note

    1x edge clip

    

56. Re-position the main harness and secure harness clips to body
    Note

    2x clips

    

57. Position the brake pedal assembly for installation
    Note

    Rotate the pedal and bracket assembly at different angles to clear the cross car beam and master cylinder push rod, Take care not to damage the boot around the push rod during installation

    

    

58. Install the harness clip to the top of the brake pedal bracket
    Note

    1x clip

    

59. Install the fasteners securing the brake pedal to the reinforcement panel on the bulkhead
    Note

    2x bolts, 13mm, 23 Nm

    

60. Install the fasteners securing the brake pedal to the brake booster at the bulkhead
    Note

    4x nyloc nuts, 13mm, 23 Nm, Install new nyloc nuts

    

61. Install new brake light switch
    Note

    Place brake light switch flush into opening and rotate counter clockwise to install, The brake light switch is a one time use component, Ensure that a new switch is used during installation

    

    

    

62. Install the brake pedal clevis pin
    Note

    Depress the brake pedal for clearance

    

63. Install the spring clip to secure the clevis pin
    Note

    1x spring clip

    

64. Place steering column into vehicle for installation

    

65. Install fasteners securing steering column to cross car beam
    Note

    2x bolts, 13mm, 17 Nm, 2x nuts, 13mm, 30 Nm

    

    

66. Connect steering column to lower steering shaft joint
    Note

    Slide joint up onto lower shaft, Ensure that the previously indexed paint marks align between the lower steering column and shaft joint

    

67. Install bolt securing lower shaft to steering column
    Note

    1x bolt, 13mm, 30 Nm

    

68. Connect steering column motor connectors
    Note

    2x connectors

    

69. Connect harness to steering column control module
    Note

    1x connector, Install new retaining clip

    

70. Slide steering column control module over upper steering column
    Note

    Gently jiggle the SCCM while pressing it onto the column if needed

    

71. Remove tape previously applied to the clockspring
    Note

    Do not rotate the clockspring

    

72. Install steering wheel
    Note

    Ensure the position of the steering wheel matches the index marks previously made on the column and the wheel

    

    

73. Install bolt securing steering wheel to steering column
    Note

    1x patch bolt, 10mm allen, 80 Nm, Install new patch bolt

    

74. Connect the drivers front airbag and steering wheel control connectors
    Note

    3x connectors

    

75. Place airbag assembly into steering wheel

    

76. Install screws securing airbag to steering wheel
    Note

    2x screws, T25, 7 Nm

    

    

77. Install OBD II male side to bracket
    Note

    2x screws, T20, 4 Nm

    

78. Install accelerator pedal
    Note

    2x nyloc nuts, 10mm, 9 Nm, 1x connector, Ensure red connector locking tab is engaged after making connection, Install new nyloc nuts

    

79. Connect First Responder Loop and 12V negative terminal
    Note

    1x connector, 1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, Connect First Responder Loop first

    

80. Install HEPA filter outlet duct

    

    

81. Install HEPA filter inlet duct
    Note

    2x tabs, One on each side

    

    

82. Install clips securing HEPA filter inlet duct to cowl panel
    Note

    3x push clips

    

83. Secure drainage hoses to HEPA filter inlet duct
    Note

    2x hoses

    

    

84. Install RH underhood apron
    Note

    9x clips

    

    

85. Install LH underhood apron
    Note

    9x clips

    

    

86. Install rear underhood apron
    Note

    8x clips

    

    

87. Close hood
    Note

    Press firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

    

    

88. Remove cubby under MCU and connect laptop to vehicle with a tethered Ethernet connection via Toolbox 3
    Note

    1x connector, 2x clips, Remove cubby under MCU and connect laptop to vehicle, Open Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to vehicle: https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner and select Connect Locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected), Local connection will enable service mode plus on display

    

    

89. Reinstall firmware via UI
    Note

    Via Service > Software Reinstall > CAN ECU > Reinstall

    

    

    

90. Perform Infotainment test with Toolbox diagnostics application to test and verify DAB/Tuner functions
    Note

    Navigation is as follows: Panels > System Tests > Infotainment Tests

    

91. Install RH footwell cover
    Note

    2x blue push clips, 1x connector

    

    

92. Install RH center console closeout extension
    Note

    12x clips

    

    

93. Install RH center console wrapped trim
    Note

    Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to installation

    

    

94. Install RH lower IP trim
    Note

    9x ubell clips

    

95. Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and install cubby under MCU
    Note

    1x connector, 2x clips, Ensure diagnostic cables are tucked into the appropriate position then engage cubby

    

96. Install LH floor mat
    Note

    4x velcro pads

    

97. Install RH IP side cover
    Note

    3x clips, 1x connector

    

    

98. Return RH front seat to original position

    

99. Raise window and close RH front door
