Hose - Outlet - Rear Drive Unit (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the window.
  2. Prepare the vehicle for lifting, but do not raise the vehicle at this stage. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  6. Remove the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install a hose clamp onto the RDU to pump 2 hose.

    Note
    Install the clamp in front of the clip.
  8. Remove the clip that attaches the RDU outlet hose to the subframe.
  9. Position a coolant drain underneath the RDU.
  10. Remove the RDU outlet hose from the RDU.

    Clamp the hose prior to removal. Plug the drive unit once the hose has been removed.
  11. Remove the clip that attaches the RDU to pump 2 hose to the body.
  12. Disconnect the RDU outlet hose from the RDU to pump 2 hose.
  13. Remove the RDU outlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation

  1. Position the RDU outlet hose onto the subframe.
  2. Connect the LRDU outlet hose onto the RDU to pump 2 hose.

    Note
    The locking tabs must be flush to be fully secured. Perform a push-pull-push test.
  3. Install the clip that attaches the RDU to pump 2 hose to the body.
  4. Remove the plug, and then install the RDU outlet hose onto the RDU.
  5. Install the clip that attaches the RDU outlet hose to the subframe.
  6. Clean any coolant residue from the subframe.
  7. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the floor.
  8. Remove the coolant bottle cap.
  9. Reconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  10. Using Toolbox 3, perform a coolant air purge. See Cooling System - Partial Refill and Bleed.
  11. Install the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the vehicle from the lift and disable Jack Mode.
  13. Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary.

    Note
    Make sure that the fluid level is at the Max line on the coolant bottle.
  14. Install the coolant bottle cap.
  15. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  16. Install the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
