Removal

Open LH front door
-
Open hood
NoteVia Controls > Front Trunk

Remove rear underhood apron

Remove RH underhood apron
Note9x clips

Remove LH underhood apron
Note9x clips, (*Use this step for Model S Refresh procedures)

Release primary and secondary drain tubes from cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x hoses
-
Release cabin intake duct assembly from cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Remove cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x clips, one on each side
-
Remove HEPA filter outlet duct
NoteLift up, Pull towards front of vehicle, Then rotate clockwise
-
Power off vehicle via UI
NoteVia Controls > Safety > Power Off

Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal and First Responder Loop
Note1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, 1x connector, Wait at least 2 minutes before disconnecting modules or HV components

Remove rear underhood apron
Note8x clips

Remove underhood storage carpet
Note2x connectors, Release edge of carpet from underneath underhood storage unit seal, Disconnect light and release switch connectors

Release underhood storage unit
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm, 2x push clips
-
Remove underhood storage unit
Note1x grommet, Lift the underhood storage unit appropriately to access the grommet and push grommet through underhood storage
-
Disconnect front fascia harness
Note2x connectors, disconnect the two connectors and remove them from the support bracket
-
Release edge clip that secures fascia harness to RH active shutter
Note1x edge clip

Remove bolts securing fascia bracket to carrier
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm
-
Remove screw securing front fascia to LH fender bracket
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm
-
Remove screw securing front fascia to RH fender bracket
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm
-
Remove screws and clips securing fascia to front aero shield
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 6x push clips
-
Release fascia from fender brackets and pull forward to remove from vehicle
NoteSet fascia on protected surface, Recommend assistance

Disconnect parking sensor connectors
Note6x connectors, Release locking tab

Disconnect LH active louvre connector
Note1x connector, Release locking tab

Disconnect LH front cornering lamp connector

Disconnect RH active louvre connector
Note1x connector, Release locking tab

Disconnect RH front cornering lamp connector

Disconnect air quality sensor connector

Release clips securing harness and remove from front fascia assembly

Installation

Position and secure harness onto front fascia assembly

Connect ambient temperature sensor connector

Connect air quality sensor connector

Connect RH active louvre connector
Note1x connector, Secure locking tab

Connect RH front cornering lamp connector

Connect LH active louvre connector

Connect LH front cornering lamp connector

Connect valeo USS sensor connectors
Note6x connectors, Secure locking tabs

Place front fascia onto vehicle and secure fascia to fender brackets
NoteRecommend Assistance, Route fascia harness while installing, Align guide tabs to aeroshield then secure to fender brackets

Secure fascia harness clip onto RH active shutter
Note1x edge clip

Connect front fascia harness
Note2x connectors, install the two connectors and attach them to the support bracket
-
Install screws and clips securing fascia to front aero shield
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 6x push clips
-
Install screw securing fascia to LH fender bracket
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm
-
Install screw securing fascia to RH fender bracket
Note1x screw, T25, 1.5 Nm
-
Install bolts securing LH and RH side of fascia to carrier
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm
-
Position underhood storage unit
Note1x grommet, Lift the underhood storage unit appropriately to access the gromment and feed harness grommet through underhood storage unit
-
Install bolts and clips securing underhood storage unit
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm, 2x push clips
-
Install underhood storage carpet and reconnect light and release switch
connectors
Note2x connectors, Secure edges of carpet underneath underhood storage unit seal

Install front underhood apron
Note7x clips
-
Connect First Responder Loop and 12V battery negative terminal
Note1x connector, 1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, Connect First Responder Loop first

Install HEPA filter outlet duct
NoteFirst connect smaller end near firewall, then slide larger end onto HEPA filter assembly
-
Install cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x tabs, One on each side
-
Secure cabin intake duct assembly to cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Secure primary and secondary drain tubes to cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x hoses

Install LH underhood apron
Note9x clips

Install RH underhood apron
Note9x clips

Install rear underhood apron
Note8x clips

Close hood
NotePress firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

Connect laptop to vehicle with a tethered Ethernet connection via Toolbox 3
Note1x connector, 2x clips, Newer models will access connector below MCU with cubby removed, Older models will access port at LH side of IP with end cap removedOpen Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to vehicle: https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner and select Connect Locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected), Local connection will enable service mode plus on display

Open "Louver Shutter Operation" panel
NotePanels > Thermal > Louver Shutter Operation

Run "Louver Shutter Operation" test to verify louver operation, after test is
completed click on the "Finish" button to complete the test
NoteIn the Toolbox "Louver Shutter Operation" panel, select "Re-calibrate Louver Shutters" and press the "Play Button", Test should run for about 1 minute

Disconnect laptop from vehicle

Reinstall IP cubby
Note2x clips, Be sure to route Ethernet and CAN communication wires properly prior to installation

Close LH front door
