Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace)

  • 2023-12-19: Added instruction for vehicles equipped with pedestrian protection actuators.

Removal

  1. Remove the wiper arms. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  2. Vehicles built through April 10, 2016: Remove the particulate filter. See Filter - Particulate (Remove and Replace) .
  3. Vehicles built after April 10, 2016: Remove the HEPA filter inlet duct See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace) , and then remove the HEPA filter outlet duct See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace) .
  4. Remove the plastic rivets (x4 or x6) that secure the cowl to the body.
  5. Remove the LH and RH shock tower covers.
  6. If equipped, move the cowl screen panel past the LH and RH pedestrian protection actuators, and then remove the cowl screen panel from the vehicle.

    Take care not to scratch the hood and fenders.

    Carefully bend the cowl screen panel to move it past the hood strut.

    Note
    The rubber washers that are located between the wiper spindles and the cowl screen panel can stick to the panel as it is removed, then fall off the panel without being noticed. Collect the washers as the panel is removed and reinstall them on the wiper spindles.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
