Ground Strap - Large Rear Drive Unit (Remove and Replace)

  • 2026-08-25: Released new procedure.

Removal

  1. Carefully lower the rear subframe assembly. See Subframe Assembly - Rear (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove and discard the bolt (1008770-00-A) that attaches the ground strap to the RDU.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
  3. Remove the nut that attaches the ground strap to the body.
    5.5 Nm (4.1 lbs-ft)

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
CAUTION
When raising the subframe and drive unit into the vehicle, avoid making contact with the Rapid Splitter.
CAUTION
Replace all patchbolt(s).
CAUTION
Replace all nylon-insert locknuts.
