Correction code 16103502 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. To provide feedback on FRT values, email LaborTimeFeedback@tesla.com. NOTE: See to make sure wearing proper PPE when performing the below procedure.
Warning
Only technicians who have been
trained in High Voltage Awareness and have completed all required certification
courses (if applicable) are permitted to perform this procedure. Proper personal
protective equipment (PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a minimum rating of
class 0 (1000V) must be worn any time a high voltage cable is handled. Refer to
Tech Note TN-15-92-003, "High Voltage Awareness Care Points"
for additional safety information.
Warning
Proper personal
protective equipment (PPE) is required to perform this procedure:
- High voltage insulating gloves
- Leather glove protectors
- High voltage glove tester
- Safety glasses
- Electrical hazard rated safety shoes
Warning
If the vehicle has air
suspension, activate "Jack" mode on the touchscreen before raising and
supporting the vehicle.
Procedure
- Move the vehicle to a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Remove the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
-
Disconnect 12V power. See
Disconnect 12V Power.
NoteAllow at least 2 minutes before disconnecting high voltage components.
- Raise the vehicle to service under the HV battery.
- Use a pick to remove the cap from the vent cover.
- Use the pick to remove the breather from the vent cover.
-
Loosen the screws (x12) that
attach the vent cover to the HV battery, and then remove the vent
cover.

Remove the umbrella valves
(x3) from the baffle assembly using an upholstery puller.
-
Inspect the baffle assembly
for any remaining pieces of umbrella valve, and remove remaining pieces if
necessary.
NoteUse caution not to damage the baffle assembly.
-
Inspect the edges of the
baffle assembly and remove any excessive sealant, using IPA wipes.
-
Apply lubricant onto the tip
of each umbrella valve.
NoteOnly apply Krytox GPL 203 to the tip of the valve, and avoid contaminating any other surface of the umbrella valve.
-
Install the umbrella valves
into the baffle assembly, and verify that the umbrella valves are fully
seated.

cover.NoteApply paint mark after torque.
-
Install the HV battery
breather valve.
NotePush up into position and secure.
-
Install the HV battery vent
cover cap.
- Connect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
- Install the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
- Install the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace).
