Module - Park Assist (Remove and Replace)

Choose the appropriate procedure based on the vehicle's configuration and date of manufacture:
- Vehicles built through April 10, 2016, refer to 1st Generation
- Vehicles built after April 10, 2016, refer to 2nd Generation
1st Generation
Correction Code 17270102
Removal
- Remove the LH side rear trunk trim for access. See Trim - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).

Disconnect the harness connections (x3) from the module.
CAUTIONMark the harnesses so that they are reinstalled properly.

Remove the nuts (x4) that secure the park assist module and bracket to the body (torque 3 Nm).

Remove the park assist module from the bracket by releasing the push rivets (x3).
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

If the vehicle has only 8 park assist sensors in total, perform the following
steps:
- Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.
- Select the Actions tab and search for "Park Assist VIN Learn".
- Select the ODIN routine PROC_PARK_X_BOSCH45-VIN-LEARNSearch for routine in ToolboxPark Assist VIN Learn - BOSCH 4.5, and then click the link of the routine.
- Click RUN, and allow the routine to complete.
2nd Generation

Removal
- Disconnect 12V power. See Trim - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).

Remove the RH side rear trunk
trim. See Trim - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
NoteThe park assist module, park brake module, and liftgate module are removed as an assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the park assist module, park brake module, and liftgate module.
- Release the clip that secures the module assembly bracket to the body.
- Release the fasteners that secure the module assembly bracket to the body. Remove the module assembly and bracket from the vehicle.
- Remove the park assist module from the module assembly bracket.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
- Reinstall the latest vehicle firmware, or update the firmware if not the latest. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen or Firmware Update.
