Coolant Fitting - Front Drive Unit (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  2. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  3. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the coolant reservoir to the shock tower cross member.
  4. Disconnect the coolant reservoir level sensor connector.
  5. Release the clips (x2) that attach the coolant hose to the shock tower cross member, and then move the coolant reservoir out of the way.
  6. Clamp the pump coolant hose, and then release the pump coolant hose from the coolant reservoir.

    Plug the hose connection at the coolant reservoir.
  7. Put absorbent material under the front drive unit coolant hose.
  8. Release the front drive unit to 3-way valve hose from the heat exchanger coolant outlet.

  9. Remove the bolt that attaches the coolant fitting assembly, and then remove the fitting from the vehicle.

    Move the isolating cover aside to get to the bolt.

Install

  1. Install the bolt that attaches the coolant fitting assembly.
  2. Install the front drive unit to 3-way valve hose to the heat exchanger coolant outlet.
  3. Install the pump coolant hose to the coolant reservoir.

    Remove the clamp from the hose after connecting it to the reservoir.
  4. Install the clips (x2) that attach the coolant hose to the shock tower cross member.
  5. Remove the absorbent material from under the front drive unit coolant hose.
  6. Connect the coolant reservoir level sensor connector.
  7. Reposition the coolant reservoir, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the coolant reservoir to the shock tower cross member.
  8. Disconnect the coolant reservoir level sensor connector.
  9. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  10. Connect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  11. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  12. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
  13. Perform a coolant air purge through the touchscreen.
    On the touchscreen, touch Thermal > Actions > Coolant Air Purge, touch Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  14. Inspect the coolant level and top off as required.
