TXV Valve - Chiller (Remove and Replace)

Note
This procedure requires the A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) procedure to be performed. If not already automatically added to the Service Visit, add correction code 18200102 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.

Removal

  1. Recover refrigerant from the vehicle. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace).
  2. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power .
  3. Remove the front skid plate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the nut that secures the pipe retaining plate to the TXV (torque 12 Nm).
  5. Disconnect the refrigerant pipes from the TXV.

    CAUTION
    Plug pipe connections to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.

    Remove and discard O-rings.
  6. Disconnect the TXV solenoid valve connector.
  7. Remove the bolts (x2) that secure the TXV to the battery chiller (torque 6 Nm).
  8. Remove the TXV from the battery chiller.

Installation

  1. Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
  2. Replace the A/C pipe and chiller O-rings.

    CAUTION
    Lubricate new O-rings with clean refrigerant oil.
  3. Replace the battery chiller O-rings.
  4. If the new TXV does not have a solenoid, install a coolant valve dummy plug on the vehicle-side electrical harness connector.
  5. Recharge the refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace).
  6. Perform a cooling system thermal test. See Cooling System - Thermal Test.
