If the vehicle has air suspension, activate "Jack" mode on the touchscreen before raising and supporting the vehicle.

Removal

  1. Remove the wheel (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the nut that secures the ride height sensor link and release it from the upper suspension link (torque 7 Nm).

    CAUTION
    To prevent ball joint damage, always hold the ball joint pin with a wrench while loosening or tightening the lock nut.
  3. Loosen but do not remove the nut and bolt that secure the upper suspension link to the subframe (torque 130 Nm). This releases tension on the bushing prior to removal. Removal takes place in another step.
  4. Remove the bolt that secures the upper suspension link to the knuckle (torque 140 Nm).
  5. Remove the nut and bolt that secure the upper suspension link to the subframe (torque 130 Nm).
  6. Remove the upper suspension link from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Replace all nylon-insert locknuts.

Only fully tighten suspension bushing bolts when the vehicle is in ride height position.

CAUTION
Make sure that the upper suspension link is oriented so that the hole for the ride height sensor link is on the bottom.
  • Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
