Structural Base - Bracket - License Plate - Front (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the cap and scews (x2) that secure the license plate frame to the license plate bracket shell, and then remove the license plate and frame.
  2. Remove the bolts (x2) that secure the bottom of the license plate bracket to the J-nuts in the front fascia.
  3. Remove the screws (x3) that secure the license plate bracket shell to the license plate structural base, and then remove the license plate bracket shell.
  4. Use a plastic trim tool or similar to release the license plate structural base from the front fascia.

    Note
    The license plate structural base is secured to the front fascia using adhesive tape.
  5. Use IPA wipes to carefully clean up any remaining adhesive from the front fasica.

Installation

  1. Clean the license plate bracket shell installation location using IPA wipes. Allow to fully dry before continuing.
  2. Install the screws (x3) to secure the license plate bracket shell to the license plate structural base (torque 1 Nm).

    CAUTION
    Do not overtorque the screws.
  3. Loosely install the bolts (x2) that secure the bottom of the license plate bracket to the J-nuts in the front fascia. Do not fully tighten the bolts yet.
  4. Remove the backing from the adhesive tape on the rear of the license plate structural base.
  5. Making sure the bracket is aligned and lifted up against the front fascia, press the front license plate bracket assembly against the front fascia. Fully wet out the adhesive on the back of the bracket assembly.
  6. Fully tighten the bolts (x2) that secure the bottom of the license plate bracket to the to the J-nuts in the front fascia (torque 3 Nm).
  7. Insert the license plate back into the license plate frame, then tighten the screws that secure the frame to the license plate bracket shell, and then reinstall the caps.
