Sensor - Impact Accelerometer - Front Bumper - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

This procedure is for vehicles produced on or after February 26, 2019. For vehicles produced before February 26, 2019, see See Sensor - Impact - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
  3. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  4. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace) .
  5. Remove the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace) .
  6. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace) .
  7. Turn off the vehicle power from the touchscreen.
  8. Disconnect the First Responder Loop and 12V battery negative terminal.
  9. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install) .
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the LH front bumper impact accelerometer sensor.
  11. Remove and discard the nyloc nut that attaches the LH front bumper impact accelerometer sensor to the vehicle (torque 10 Nm), and then remove the sensor.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

CAUTION
Replace all patchbolt(s).
If the component was replaced due to an internal failure, perform the following steps:
  1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  2. In Toolbox 3, click Dashboards > Service Tools > DTCs, and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
  3. Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
  4. Power cycle the vehicle.
  5. Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
  6. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
