Brake Line - Junction Block to Rear Wheels (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
  2. Perform Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure
  3. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the nut that attaches the rear half of the LH front wheel arch liner to the body (torque 4 Nm).
  5. Remove the push clips (x5) that attach the rear half of the LH front wheel arch liner to the body.
  6. Fold out the rear side of the LH front wheel arch liner opposite side of the rotor.
  7. Remove the LH and RH rear wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the LH and RH rear wheel arch liners. See Wheel Arch Liner - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the HV battery assembly. See HV Battery (RWD/AWD) (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the rear subframe assembly. See Subframe Assembly - Rear (Remove and Install).
  11. Position the oil drain container under the LH front brake caliper area to catch any spilled brake fluid during the next steps.
  12. Follow these cautions and notices while performing the next steps:

    Clean the surrounding area prior to removing the component.

    If brake fluid is spilled on a painted surface, wash off immediately with clean water.

    To prevent damage always use a suitable wrench to hold the backing nut when loosening pipes and unions.

    Note
    Place suitable absorbent material around the affected area to absorb any possible fluid spillage.
  13. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the brake lines to the LH front brake line junction block (torque 16 Nm).
  14. Release the lock from the LH front brake line junction block with a small flat head screwdriver.
  15. Remove the brake lines from below the LH front junction block.
  16. Position the oil drain container under the LH rear side of the wheel well area to catch any brake fluid during the next steps.
  17. Remove the nut that attaches the LH rear brake line to the LH rear brake junction (torque 16 Nm).
  18. Release the LH rear brake line from the clip at the LH rear wheel well area.
  19. Release the clip that attaches the coolant hose to the body stud.
  20. Position the oil drain container under the RH rear side of the wheel well area.
  21. Remove the nut that attaches the RH rear brake line to the RH rear brake junction block (torque 16 Nm).
  22. Release the RH rear brake line from the clip at the RH rear wheel well area.
  23. Move the oil drain container away from the vehicle.
  24. Release the clips (x6) that attach the brake lines from the body around the rear subframe area.
  25. Release the clips (x6) that attach the brake line bundle to the LH side sill, and then remove the brake line bundle from the vehicle.

    Feed the brake lines down between the coolant hoses and the body at the LH rear corner of the vehicle.
