Sensor - Impact - B-Pillar (Remove and Replace)

Note
In the event of an airbag or seat belt tensioner deployment, certain airbag and seat belt components must be replaced, and other components must be inspected for damage. Refer to SRS Inspection and Component Replacement for a specific list of items that must be inspected and replaced.

Removal

  1. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace)
  2. Disconnect 12V power and the first responder loop. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  3. Remove the LH middle A-Pillar trim. See Panel - A Pillar Trim - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the B-pillar lower trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Install) .
  6. Disconnect the impact sensor harness connector.
  7. Remove the bolt that secures the impact sensor to the B-pillar (torque 10 Nm).
  8. Remove the impact sensor.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
If the component was replaced due to an internal failure, perform the following steps:
  1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  2. In Toolbox 3, click Dashboards > Service Tools > DTCs, and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
  3. Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
  4. Power cycle the vehicle.
  5. Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
  6. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
