- Remove the passenger footwell panel (refer to procedure).
- Remove the RH sill panel trim (refer to procedure).
- Disconnect 12V power. (refer to procedure).
-
Apply tape to the RH fender around the side repeater.
-
Identify the RH repeater coax cable in the donor harness.
NoteThe RH repeater coax cable has a white single connector at one end and occupies cavity 1 of the brown dual connector at the other end.
-
Use the pin drag kit to carefully lift and remove the purple locking insert out of the dual connector.
-
Use the pin drag kit to carefully
lift the locking tab of cavity 1 on the dual connector, and at the same time, pull
the RH repeater coax cable from the dual connector.
-
Wrap the length of the RH repeater coax cable with anti-abrasion tape.
NoteDo not wrap the white connector or the bare connector with tape.
-
Remove the nuts (x3) that attach the frunk electrical harness to the bulkhead, and then pull the harness dust boot away to expose the wires.
-
Remove the tape attaching the dust boot to the electrical harness.
-
Insert the bare connector end of the RH repeater coax cable into the narrow end of the dust boot.
-
Carefully pull approximately 1.5 feet of cable through the boot, and move that length through the opening in the bulkhead.
-
Fold the passenger carpet rearward to gain access to the body electrical harness.
-
Locate connector X846 on the lower A-pillar.
-
Make sure that there is enough slack in the RH repeater coax cable to reach connector X846.
-
Attach the RH repeater coax cable to the body electrical harness with two cable ties.
- Remove excess cable tie length.
-
Push the tab to release connector X846 from the body electrical harness.
-
Push the tabs to separate connector X846.
-
Use the pin drag kit to carefully lift and remove the purple locking insert out of the male side of connector X846.
-
Use the pin drag kit to carefully lift the locking tab of cavity 1 on connector X846M, and at the same time, pull the old coax cable from the connector.
-
Insert the RH repeater coax cable into cavity 1 of connector X846M, and then install the purple locking insert into the connector.
- Reconnect the male and female halves of connector X846, and then fasten connector X846 to the body electrical harness.
-
Wrap the bare connector of the old coax cable with tape.
-
Attach the coax cable to the body electrical harness with a cable tie.
- Remove excess cable tie length.
-
Unfold the passenger carpet forward.
- Install the RH sill panel trim (refer to procedure).
- Install the passenger footwell panel (refer to procedure).
- Install the RH center console closeout extension (refer to procedure).
- Install the glove box (refer to procedure).
-
Apply tape to attach the narrow end of the dust boot to the frunk electrical harness, and then install the dust boot into the bulkhead.
-
Install the nuts (x3) that attach the frunk electrical harness to the bulkhead (torque 5 Nm).
- Raise the vehicle and remove the RH front wheel (refer to procedure).
-
Remove the push clips (x5) and nut that attach rear half of the wheel arch liner to the body
-
Fold the liner forward, and then place the liner between the brake rotor and fascia.
-
Release the tabs on the RH side repeater, and push the repeater out of the body.
-
Disconnect the repeater electrical harness from the RH side repeater connectors, and then remove the repeater assembly from the vehicle.
-
Route the RH repeater coax cable along the frunk electrical harness, along the old coax cable, and out the side repeater hole in the RH fender.
-
Use cable ties or tape to attach the RH repeater coax cable to the frunk electrical harness and old coax cable for every 150mm to 200mm of cable length.
NoteUse edge clips, cable ties, and tape as necessary to prevent the RH repeater coax cable from contacting abrasive surfaces or sharp edges.
- Remove excess cable tie length.
-
Remove the connector from the old coax cable, and attach the old coax cable to the RH repeater light electrical harness with tape.
-
Connect the RH repeater light connector and RH repeater coax cable connector to the new repeater assembly.
- Install the new repeater into the RH fender.
-
Unfold the wheel arch liner back to its mounting position, and then install the push clips (x5) and nut that attach the liner to the body (torque 6 Nm).
- Install the RH front wheel and remove the vehicle from the lift (refer to procedure).
