Latch - Hood (Remove and Replace)

Choose the appropriate procedure based on the vehicle's configuration:
- RWD vehicles built before April 16, 2016: 1st Generation RWD vehicles - Primary Latch
- RWD vehicles built before April 16, 2016: 1st Generation RWD vehicles - Secondary Latch
- Dual Motor vehicles built before April 16, 2016: 1st Generation Dual Motor vehicles
- Vehicles built after April 16, 2016: 2nd Generation vehicles
1st Generation RWD Vehicles - Primary Latch
Correction Code 11355202
Removal
- Remove the hood latch cover. See Assembly - Hood Latch Cover (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the latch assembly to the crossmember (torque 16 Nm).
- Release the latch assembly from the studs, then lower and disconnect the harness connector.

Disconnect the hood release cable from the latch.

Remove the primary latch assembly from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

After installation is
complete, make sure the hood latches correctly:
- Open and fully close the hood by firmly pressing the hood down with both hands. Then try to lift the front end of the hood to ensure it is fully closed.
- Open the hood via the touchscreen or the key fob, then shut the hood against the vehicle body without engaging the striker into the hood primary latch. Shift the vehicle out of Park and back into Park. Then try to lift the front end of the hood to confirm that the hood is retained by the secondary latch.
1st Generation RWD Vehicles - Secondary Latch
Correction Code 11355302
Removal
- Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolts (x2)
that attach the secondary latch to the crossmember (torque 10 Nm).
CAUTIONCare must be taken to avoid fasteners falling into open cavity.

Carefully release the secondary latch assembly and then rotate to access the harness connection.
CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).

Disconnect the harness from the latch.
NoteComponents have been removed in this graphic to aid clarity.

Remove the latch assembly from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Apply approximately 0.06 grams of RheoGel TEK676 grease to the areas
shown.

After installation is complete, make sure the hood latches
correctly:
- Open and fully close the hood by firmly pressing the hood down with both hands. Then try to lift the front end of the hood to ensure it is fully closed.
- Open the hood via the touchscreen or the key fob, then shut the hood against the vehicle body without engaging the striker into the hood primary latch. Shift the vehicle out of Park and back into Park. Then try to lift the front end of the hood to confirm that the hood is retained by the secondary latch.
1st Generation Dual Motor Vehicles

Removal

- Remove the front fascia applique. See Applique - Fascia - Front - 2nd Generation (Remove and Install).

Disconnect the harness from the LH side of the latch.

Remove the bolts (x2)
that attach the latch to the crossmember (torque 10 Nm).

- Remove the latch assembly from the vehicle.

areas shown.
Front latch Rear latch -
After installation is complete, make sure the hood latches

- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).

Disconnect the harness from the LH side of the latch.
