Module - Steering Column Control (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 32011002
- 2024-03-28: Removed ODIN routines from procedure as per latest validation.
- 2023-05-31: Added step to set Gateway configuration for "steeringWheel" for pre-2015 MY vehicles.
Removal
- Ensure that the front road wheels are in the straight ahead position.
- Fully extend the column and centralize tilt.

Remove the steering wheel (refer to procedure).
NoteEnsure that the wheels are in the straight ahead position, and then mark the position of the steering wheel relative to the steering column with a paint pen before removing the steering wheel from the column.

Carefully rock the controller module 2-3 degrees back and forth to break the
bond between the module and the steering column.
- Remove the steering controller module from the shaft.

Remove and discard the airbag harness retaining clip from the steering column
module harness connector.
- Disconnect the steering column module harness connector.
- Remove the steering control module from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Clean the affected areas before
installation.
- Install a new airbag harness retaining clip.

Press up on the red tab to adjust the position of the plastic housing. Rotate
the housing until the clocksping cable is between the arrows and the tab returns
to the locked position.

Ensure that the pegs (x2) align to the slots in the steering column.
CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).
- Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.

For vehicles before Model Year 2015: when replacing the SCCM with part
number 1050752-00-B by an SCCM with part number 1057357-00-B or later: check the
Gateway configuration for steeringWheel.
- Reinstall the firmware. See Firmware Reinstall - Toolbox or Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen.
