Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install)

Removal
- Position the vehicle so that there is full access to the driver's door.
- Lower the window.

Remove the screws that attach the
trim pad to the door.
Note2 screws are concealed by the door handle insert (torque 3 Nm). 1 screw is concealed by the pull cup's rubber insert (torque 6 Nm).

Use a trim tool to remove the
heart flex clips that attach the trim. Discard the clips.
CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).
- Support the door trim and disconnect the latch release cable from the inner door handle.
- Disconnect the puddle lamp connector.
- Disconnect the door switch harness connector.
- Disconnect the door pocket lamp harness connector.
- Disconnect the harness connector from the rear safety lamp.
- Use a shop trolley to support the door panel.

If necessary: use a knife to remove the door panel retention
strap.
WarningDo not reuse the retention strap. It is one-time use only.

Remove the door trim panel from the vehicle.
Tip: If the window switch needs to be connected for other procedures, place the door trim panel on a rolling cart near the door. Cover the cart with a soft cloth to avoid damage to the panel.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
- Replace plastic heart flex clips after each use.
- Reuse metal clips unless they are damaged.
If the vehicle has next generation seats, install a new retention strap:
Warning
Failure to install a retention strap could result in injury or death in case of air bag deployment.
Warning
Do not reuse the retention strap. It is one-time use only.

Fold the retention strap in half lengthwise. Feed the side of the strap with the
2 holes in between the inner and outer trim panels.
CAUTIONDo not damage the weave on the strap.

Pull the bottom part of the strap through the hole, and then route it through the slit in the upper part of the strap.

Fold the free end of the retention strap back onto itself so that the 2 holes
align.

Align the holes in the strap with the hole in the upper rear section of the door frame, and then loosely install a new rivet.

Use a rivet tool to attach the
strap to the door panel.
CAUTIONMake sure that the rivet tool is perpendicular to the door panel to install the rivet correctly.
