Disconnect 12V Power

1st Generation RWD
Correction Code 17010100
Warning
If the 12V power
supply is disconnected, do not attempt to open any doors with door glass in
closed position. Failure to follow this instruction could result in door glass
shatter.
Note
Before
disconnecting the 12V power supply, ensure that the driver’s door window is
fully open. Failure to follow this instruction could result in vehicle
lockout.
Disconnect
- Open the front trunk.
- If the vehicle is charging, remove the charge cable.
- On the touchscreen, power off the climate control system, and wait at least 30 seconds for the climate control system to completely shut down.
- Make sure the vehicle is in Park.
- Fully lower all door windows to avoid glass shatter and door lockout conditions.
- Remove the particulate filter (refer to procedure).

Remove the rivets (x3) that
attach the cowl screen panel to the body.

Gain access to the particulate filter housing.

LHD vehicles only:
Lift up the RH corner of the cowl screen panel.CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).
- RHD vehicles only: Remove the cowl screen panel (refer to procedure).

LHD vehicles only:
Lift up the RH corner of the cowl screen panel.

Remove the bolts (x2) that
attach the pollen filter front housing to the HVAC duct (torque 1.5 Nm).
Release the tabs (x2) to remove the front housing.
NoteRHD vehicles have a 1-piece pollen filter housing. Remove the nuts (x3), then remove the housing.
- Unlatch the driver's door and any door that might need to be opened during the service procedure.
- Turn off vehicle power from the touchscreen by touching .

Disconnect the 12V battery ground connection (torque 5 Nm).
- Disconnect the first responder loop (X536). Do not cut the loop.

Wait at least 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge.
WarningBefore servicing post pack contactor high voltage components on the DC Link, verify the pack contactors are open by performing the vehicle HV disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure. If servicing the pack contactors themselves, disconnect low voltage power and remove the HV pyro fuse/disconnect. See Fuse - Pyrotechnic - HV Battery 1.0/1.5 (Remove and Install) or Fuse - Pyrotechnic - HV Battery 2.0 (Remove and Install). If servicing the HV pyro fuse/disconnect, be aware that high voltage will always be present at the fuse.
Connect
Note
Connect is reverse of
disconnect, except for the following:
- For RHD vehicles, install the top 2 pollen filter housing nuts before installing the lower nut.
1st Generation Dual Motor

Warning

fully open. Failure to follow this instruction could result in vehicle
lockout.
Disconnect
- Open the front trunk.

- Make sure the vehicle is in Park.

- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
- Unlatch the driver's door and any door that might need to be opened during the service procedure.
- Turn off vehicle power from the touchscreen by touching .
- Disconnect the 12V battery ground connection (torque 5 Nm).
- Disconnect the first responder loop (X536). Do not cut the loop.

2nd Generation

Disconnect
Warning

- Open the front trunk.
- If the vehicle is charging, remove the charge cable.
- On the touchscreen, power off the climate control system, and wait at least 30 seconds for the climate control system to completely shut down.
- Make sure the vehicle is in Park.
- Fully lower all door windows to avoid glass shatter and door lockout conditions.
- Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct (refer to procedure).
- Unlatch the driver's door and any door that might need to be opened during the service procedure.
- Turn off vehicle power from the touchscreen by touching .

Disconnect the 12V battery
ground connection (torque 5 Nm).

Disconnect the first responder
loop.
CAUTIONDo not cut the first responder loop.

Wait at least 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge.
